Thing is, retailers are increasingly wise to these and should be turning them away at the door. Have a legitimate medical issue? Fine, we're happy to accommodate you - give us a list of what you need and we'll pick it up off the shelves for you and give you a call when it's ready for pickup, or better yet, use the delivery service for those businesses who offer it.

When the maskholes get the same answer though and suddenly it's an inconvenience because they can't go in and unnecessarily browse around for an hour or two, well, fully expect hissy fits and childish antics, followed by making a miraculous recovery from their "medical issue" and they put on a mask anyways and continue on. Then some will surely pull it off anyways because they think they've "fooled the system". Then they should be ejected and banned from the store. **** off.

Much like the travellers who can't be bothered to quarantine properly, it's time to hit people where it hurts - fines, and bans. Want to act like a child? Fine. But don't complain when you get treated like one.

I read an article on those fake mask cards and they were interviewing someone with CF and ~30-40% lung capacity. He wears a mask. It isn't pleasant but medically it is safer than the alternative. Basically, if you have enough lung capacity to walk, there are very very very few people that can't wear a mask. For those few, PP's idea of having the store pick for you while you hang out outside is a great solution.
 
I agree. There's really no one who can't wear a mask except maybe someone who can't physically put one on or take it off and those people shouldn't be out on their own shopping or in public anyway so there really should be NO excuses when it comes to not wearing a mask.
I know 1 lady with stage 4 lung cancer and a a guy with end-stage COPD who's on O2 at all times and they both wear a mask when they go out and they keep their trips to a bare minimum - too risky for them to be in public. If they were to get it, they're likely done! They should never have allowed that there could be "exceptions".
 
Why are some of us so worried and bitching about trump when we have our own idiot in chief going crazy, with no checks or balances?
 
The face mask exemption cards... I semi-know one of the main people behind it. No surprise his facebook page was and continues to be all about how Covid is a lie/overblown/conspiracy/etc. I'm pretty confident in saying he has zero known health issues that would force him not to wear a mask.

It's just a way for them to put a line in the sand and make a stand against the "fake" Covid crisis. A friend made a very good point, this cause gives certain people a purpose that they wouldn't otherwise have.

I don't think too many people outside of the US are exceedingly worried about Trump, outside of his possible negative impacts to the international Covid situation, diplomatic stability, the global economy, and the environment.

It's more entertainment than anything else, never a dull day without some facepalming incident coming out of his office. It's like a reality show that's actual reality.

The latest being trade advisor and the guy who put the word hydroxychloroquine in Trump's ear, Peter Navarro, writing a negative Op-Ed on Fauci. White House saying he didn't go through normal channels, which is questionable, but obviously no serious rebuke of his opinion.

I really hope that international leaders have been having behind-the-scenes discussions about what to do if Trump gets re-elected (which cannot be excluded from possibility). Specifically ... cutting the USA loose and letting them do their own thing while the rest of the world leaves the USA behind to stew in their own combination of coronavirus, conspiracy theories, a poorly-educated population, religion, guns, and racial unrest.

technically there is checks and balances, blame the Quebecois and NDP.

With all due respect, like Trudeau or Hate him, I don't think you're going to find a lot of people willing to **** on the way Canada has handled Covid compared to the USA, and by connection to that reality, Trudeau is enjoying his highest ratings ever.

I know more than a few people who are Trudeau haters who have become quieter recently. Suddenly approve or singing his praises? Nope. But complaining less and even being slightly smug when they look across the border? Yep.
 
Apparently today's Minden mess was initiated by a fight about masks (likely also coupled with mental health issues given the outcome). A 73 year old man got in a fight about wearing a mask at the grocery store just south of KD and the store told him to leave. At that point the man assaulted people and took off in his vehicle. Police chased him past Haliburton and then shot and killed him near Drag Lake.

Not exactly a chase. Further info in story but I had most of the important bits correct.

No question we have some percentage of "those people" ... perhaps with attitudes that have leaked across the border. It's an unfortunate situation, but appears to be significantly self-inflicted.
 
I can't believe that putting a piece of fabric on your face for 5 or 10 minutes while you're shopping is a hill some people are (literally) willing to die on.

When I was a kid, I used to wonder why Buffalo hadn't burned to the ground. Every Buffalo channel had fires, fires, fires.

Now, when I see the same person arguing about wearing a mask fifty times, I count one.

As for Trudeau, for the first month or two he did everything wrong.
e.g. Instead of closing borders, we were arguing about not being racist.
I think the U.S. managed to close their borders first.
Don't forget, they are 50 different States all arguing and going their separate ways, Trump is only trying to manage the circus even though he doesn't have quite the power to do so. Some politicians there unfortunately, would be happy for the pandemic to last until October, so that their economy can't come back, and they figure their chances to get people elected will go up.

At least one Province here, also went their separate way, since they were doing much better by being stricter, and ignoring what Canada was doing.

Personally I cant stand the mask. I don one because I want to do my part, and because I'm not done riding yet - the hill I want to die on comes 25 years from now and is on a bike Tim Horton style.
