Dead bodies are hard to skew

As an aside I feel like everyone of those hippies in the park should be (as a form of punishment) be forced to work in a morgue
Dead bodies can be misattributed. Whose to say old people didnt die of natural causes, young people "underlying medical condition"? Most covid deaths have something else going on you can punt to.

We are all going to die.But hopefully when we are done, and not taken too early by a f'd up virus.

Well, I assume they wont just label every dead person a covid related death.
I assume they test people, its not like the body's running away, they got lots of time.

The conservative (Republican) narrative in the USA is that every death regardless of cause gets labelled as covid-19, with some variety of excuses "the hospital gets paid more" or some such thing. Except now they're under-reporting covid-19 deaths in order to justify opening up the economy ... IF this is true (which I doubt) they kinda offset each other ...

The liberal (Democrat) narrative is that covid-19 deaths are being under-reported because if someone dies at home, or in a long-term-care home, without having been tested for covid-19 before they died, it's not being recorded as a cause of death because they officially don't know. Except we know that at least some jurisdictions have been at least attempting to estimate probable-cause of these deaths.

Reality is probably somewhere in between ... a little of each ... and in at least some areas (New York City and Detroit when they were at their peaks) the various systems were simply overwhelmed and could not keep up (which in itself is indicative of a problem).

Treat it as an estimate with a margin of uncertainty. I doubt if the actual number of deaths is off by as much as Republicans and Democrats claim in either direction - probably a few percent (i.e. single digits) ... which doesn't really change the magnitude of the big picture.

No cruise ships in canadian waters until at least Oct 31.

Interesting. Less than 2% positive in recent Ontario testing. New york is closer to 15% positive. Is that primarily due to a lower infection rate or different pools being tested?

On Friday, Ontario tested 18,525 specimens, above their daily goal of 16,000 tests and nearing full province-wide daily capacity of 20,900.

The tests located 344 infected persons, representing a positivity rate of 1.85 per cent.

Wait a minute. Has anyone in Toronto actually done the math on this? They estimated there were 10,000 people in the park last weekend. They are spending about $5000 to draw 400 circles. Each circle holds two to three people. Where do the other 8800+ people go? Hilarious. There's going to be a riot. This is 9 out of 10 being denied. Oh well, the fences are a better solution for the wankers anyway.

What kind of paint are they using and how long before it washes away or gets mowed down? Then another $5,000.

They are using sports field paint so it shouldn't wear quickly. Cutting it however, holy crap. I have cut the lawn three times in six days and each time I am taking three inches or more. If TB is growing similarly most of the paint will be cut off already.

Oy. First quote was post from roughly 10:00. Second quote is comment from owner on the post. Third quote was from approx 13:00

"The 50's Diner in Minden opened to sit-in clients this morning. Owner Jason Lake said he is taking a stand against provincial orders because the business is suffering and cases of COVID 19 so low in the area. "

"Jason Lake This was to draw attention to the fact we need to open the economy in northern Ontario.
Small business are suffering in the Highlands restaurants and small retail are in financial ruin , while the big box stores in the area are thriving. There is no social distancing what’s so ever at any big box store you can pick things off the shelf and put it back ,it’s much more easier to spread a virus this way obviously.

. In A restaurant you can have more control to space people to a safe distance and to be extra clean etc
Then any big box store
(Fact )
All the nay sayers go into a big box store and watch the people bump Into each other in the isles and touch all The products and put it back on the shelf. I guess that’s ok ?
That would not happen in a restaurant if opened at 50% capacity

I support the small business owners in the area without them we don’t have employment.

"Minden 50s Diner update
After what owner Jason Lake said was "nice, positive conversations with OPP and the health unit," his diner has ended its short-lived sit-in dining option and has reverted back to take-out. He opened earlier today. He said he knew it would be short-lived and was a protest. He said no fines were issued."

Absolutely the shittiest burger I've ever, regrettably, consumed. A diner that can't make a decent burger. **** him.

Weber's on highway 11? We used to go in a long, long time (50 years) ago, because you could climb on the trains there.
I believe that it's changed hands a few times since then. Last time we went (over 30 years ago) place was packed, burgers were raw.

They just need to call Burlington and get the name of the contractor they use to do the maintenance in my park.

How the hell does that Contractor get a city contract? I want that gig. Probably pays great and obviously quality doesn't mean a thing.

Webers IMO got its reputation when a trip to the cottage meant crawling along highway 11 in an 1962 Chevy for hours with no air conditioning. There wasn't a fast food joint on every corner so a stop at Webers or anywhere was a treat. Burgers and fries aren't special anymore. Webers had a sit down place in Barrie, near the waterfront, and it had a really decent menu. Gone now.

Every town had a favourite. Hutches in Hamilton, Mackies in Port Stanley, Apache in Etobicoke, Johnnies in Scarborough etc. Most of them now serve processed patties on processed buns.

Probably the best burger in the Waterloo area is Crazy Canuck across from the St Jacobs farmers market. Nice destination on an afternoon ride.

Driven by Webers for decades and never felt a need to stop by and wait in line for a burger. According to a lot of people (this thread included) I didn't really miss much. I'm all for a good burger and fries...but to wait an hour in line...I'd rather just get to my destination.

Any recommendations on a good burger joint here in the Dundas / Mavis area? I'm still learning the area and am now jonesing for a good burger.
