Ontario planning to extend emergency order to at least June 30. That includes ban on groups over 5 as well as restaurant and bar closure.

predictable....my bright spot of the day was being allowed to unload my own Costco trolley at the checkout.....,lowspot...all the LCBOs were closed due to an incident in Toronto.

Maclean's article on Canada's efforts and recovery. It's not very positive.

"Canada still uses fax machines in medical practice and to communicate critical epidemic data. Since COVID-19 began Montreal hired two dozen clerks to type in faxed case reports. The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) too collects case reports from the provinces by fax, but stupidly asks for an “email notification” of the fax without attaching the reporting form."

dont worry, a lot of financial backoffices (think your investment broker sending orders to mutual fund companies) often use fax as well... its wonderful. we won't let go of the 90s that easily

Do you have a source for the announcement, or haven't they annouced it yet, I didn't see anything on the Ont Gov newsroom about it.

They are planning the announcement for today I believe, so the formal notice won't go up until then.

Douggie said he was going for it in yesterdays press conference, but I think they need to sit the legislature and vote on it for it to happen. The premier is only able to unilaterally declare and maintain a state of emergency for a limited length of time (which has long passed).

Spain is very close to having this licked. No new deaths, and new cases have dropped to a trickle.
They had some serious lockdown measures in place, similar to China, Glad it paid off for them. I've already seen my cousin posting pictures at the beach in Barcelona.

Poland is also opening up fairly quickly right now. Stores are open, weddings are back on, hotels are opening up. I'm still hoping that my flight is cancelled (currently international flights to Poland cancelled until June 19) so I can get my refund as I'm not interested in going there, spending time in quarantine for the trip, and coming home back to spend 14 days in quarantine again.
