Copy of the M Test (M2X) checklist!

Hi,

Question i didnt see in previous postings..

When in an intersection, making a left turn, if the car in front makes the turn, how do you inch up??

Also, someone said when doing the emergency stop, keep the turn signal blinking, and then in some other posting - they said to turn it off ?? which is correct ??

Thanks
hbc

Never mind,

I just did the M test at the brampton location, almost aced it !!
As said before, its not that hard, just ride smart !!

Good luck.

Just did my M test this morning at the Downsview location - passed with 4 small errors, guy said he was happy with my riding...phew, lol. I haven't ridden in just over 2 season having sold my ZX-6R back then...did the test today on a little '07 Honda 125R lol...that made it interesting, but do-able. I didn't take the M-course (not really worth it IMO) - just read up on this thread for a couple weeks and practised a couple times around the area on the loaner bike I had, passed fine.

The tester guy(s) were cool with me, radio comm. worked well (I made sure to crank up the volume too. They took me Sheppard west to Keele south, then 401E to Allen Rd. north, exit Wilson Heights Blvd. north, left on Sheppard (going west now), and back to test centre. They had me do the emergency stop in the Downsview lot before hitting the centre. All pretty straightforward and they give you decent time to do what you need to, but don't rush things.

It's also ok to "lose" them as we did sometimes have 2-3 cars come between us at times. I just woudl slight slow up to make sure not to get to far, but they will usually gun it around a couple cars to be able to see you. They did stay decently far back, and do make sure you head-checked anything/everything on the sides of the roads.

Thanks for this thread! A great help.

Anyone have any experience at the Guelph location? What are the examiners like? I am not from Guelph so I am not very familiar with the routes but I have driven the roads around the exam centre

(Kitchener was booked for the rest of the season)

Thanks,

can someone tell me please!

when they ask you for an emergency brake..

what do i do first, second, third, so on....

The emergency stop?

When they tell you to make the stop:

1. find a safe spot to stop
2. Put on your signal
3. Quick check of the mirrors
4. Pull over
5. Quick shoulder checks/mirrors checks with the brake light on
6. 4 ways on
7. Kill the ignition
8. Kick stand down
9. Get off and walk to the shoulder

Some won't even let you get as far as killing the ignition before they tell you to go again ... as soon as the 4 ways went on during my friend's test, the guy just told him to proceed. On my test, I had to get off the bike and stand at the side of the road away from traffic before I got the order to keep back on and continue.

Just passed my M at the Aurora location.
The biggest thing is to keep your head turning in different directions every like 8 second and I mean 8 seconds throughout the test.
Of course follow the rest of the things mentioned in this thread.

Good luck to all!!

don't do a 'panic stop' ie. lockup the brakes HOLY CRAP we're GUNNA CRASH! stop.. The test has a 'road side stop' don't stop abrubtly, signal in advance, stop where safe, and be smooth.

Just passed the M2 exit in Aurora. The route was Henderson to Yonge South to Bloomington. From there East to 404....404 to Aurora Rd/Wellington. Along Wellington to Bayview. Bayview South 2 lights I believe and then right along an industrial Rd where I did the emergency stop. From there to Yonge St and right to testing center. It was easy. My biggest enemy was myself. Don't over think this thing. Just signal early move your head around, do shoulder checks, keep your blocking position and follow the directions of the tester and it's a piece of cake. Really.... I psyched myself out for no reason. I even lost sleep for no reason. It was so easy. I even stalled it once and I never do that EVER! And he told me I had an exceptionally good test. Just because I followed all the examples in this thread. It's easy to say this when you pass but really as long as you follow the very simple rules you WILL pass. Good luck. :p

Guys, this thread is awesome - I did my M2 Exit today in Belleville, and I passed with flying colors (4 points against me - forgot to do 1 shoulder check, signaled too late on both my entances to the 401, and used the wrong tire track when I exited the 401). I know I am probably wrong here, but the deal with the wrong tire track exiting the 401 - I used the left tire track, as I always do. Instructor said I should have stayed to the far right. Motorcycle handbook says to stay in the left track...oh well

Anyway, I really feel that this thread was a big help. Thanks to everyone who passed along advice:happy3:

I guess even if you never plan on going on the highway with the bike, but you still want your full M, you HAVE to go on the highway during the test huh?

Without wading through 16 pages of posts I have a quick question. Does anyone here or know of anyone who wears hearing aids and took the M2 exit test? Obviously with hearing aids in you can't wear earplugs, so what is the alternative they have available?

One question want to ask.

Does the examiner in MTO follow you with a car or ride a bike?

How about in Hamber, does the examiner in MTO follow you with a car or ride a bike?

I don't know about Humber (because I never did that course), but at the MTO they follow you in a car ... in my case, they followed me in a Chevy Aveo ... blue ;)

Did the M2 Exit course to get my M in TO (45 Lisgar) with RTI.
http://www.ridertraining.ca/

That was sunday 23rd March 2008 in -11 to -2. Course is worth it as the examiner prepares you and its good for insurance :).

I needed the extra bit as my last riding exp was in the UK 3 years ago and I had only been on my new bike once for 1 hour before the course.

I passed.

thanks for the info,,, I'll be checking this out early May for sure. I'm up for getting my M as of February, my 18 months was up then. congrats on getting your M. :D

How far in advance do you have to book your test for your full "M" ? My M2 expires in June...

Thanks

You've held your M2 for 5 years?

yep.. there's NO reason to upgrade to the full "M" unless you want to drink and drive...

But that wasn't my question....
