Copy of the M Test (M2X) checklist!

took my test today in aurora and passed.

Tester was very cool decent guy. He told me if you have to speed to make a lane change or merge on the highway then goose it ! those are his words btw and then just drop down to normal speeds. Just move your helmet left to right and back left a lot and you should pass with flying colors is my advice.

anyone have their M test in st. catherines?
i don't know that area that well, couldn't book anywhere else in june.
what routes were taken?

My examiner didn't ask to see anything! Didn't check the tires, working condition of the bike, nothing! Just the indicators and horn.

Left Turn and Rider Position Questions.

Just went through all 13 pages of this thread and I must say the entire test must be covered! Awesome job everyone!

Here are my three questions:
1.While turning left at an intersection I never actually come out and wait in
the middle of the intersection. As far as I know, that is the standard.
Correct?
2.Does the headset that you receive have a mic as well so that you can
communicate back with the examiner?
3.What kind of riding position do they expect to see if any? I guess upright
with your head moving a lot would be ideal?

Thanks for all the tips ... just did my test this past Monday in Lindsay and passed with flying colours! Definitely took the advise on the whole constant shoulder checks and it paid off! Really glad to have it done :)

1. You should come out into the intersection in the similar position as a car would. Don't know if it is frowned upon if you stay back (unless another car is already in intersection then only one vehicle per intersection turn is fine).

2. The headset may have a mic but the examiner is not expecting you to talk back (it's often too noisey anyways). They will give you simple tasks and you do them, no conversation.

3. I don't think it matters your riding position, just your head is up, looking up a distance into traffic.

Re: Left Turn and Rider Position Questions.

I booked the test at the Brampton location ... anyone know the route?

Hey Gang

My wife is about to take her full M exam and she is looking at Peterbourough as the location. Can anyone give any insight on how it was taking the exam there. I presume there are no major hiways to take you on. If you have the route to post that would be great and appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Kelly

Just did the M test at downsview park.

Dude on custom chopper before me failed, from talking to the tester I learned he apparently had no concept of blocking position which is sort of a bummer for the test.

They followed in a blue chevy aveo. Yes blue, critical detail that comes into play later. THey give you a motorolla ptt walk-talking. So you in theory could talk back but it's going to be in your jacket so not really.

The route I took was out the MOT, right/east on sheppard, south allan down to eglington up and over back north on allan, across west on shepp again then tooled around near chesswood (?) for a roadside stop.

I screwed up on
a) speed. 110 in an 80. but they didn't ding me. Inish Allah!
b) changing gears through intersection and corners (can't help it).
c) avoiding obsticles - ? no idea.
d) not looking around while stopped at a light.
e) not taking the initiative to move over into right lane after making a left turn (when there are two lanes).

Lost 9 points, not sure how many you can lose before you fail.

But I passed, so now I can ride to the local pub for a responsible pint.

Excellent post, i just passed in aurora today. Only comment was that i merged too slow getting on the highway!

Has anyone taken their M at the Victoria Terrace location in North York?

Someone posted the speed limits on side streets are all 40. This is incorrect. All speed limits in built up areas are 50 kph, unless posted otherwise. In non built up areas (highways) they are 80 unless posted otherwise. So if you come upon a street with no signs posted, assume it is 50 kph. If the powers want you to go 40 or 60 or 70, they will post signs to this effect. Even when you enter the city of Toronto a very large sign is posted telling you that all speed limits in Metro Toronto are 50 kph unless otherwise posted. It goes the same for outside of TO as well. No signs = 50, saves on sign postage. If you are on a street posted at 40, and you are suddenly allowed to go 50, a sign will be posted, stating "50". You can verify this in the on-line drivers manual from the Ontario gov't. Or flip thru the manual's pages in some book store to verify, or ask any examiner at the MTC, or ask any constable on patrol. I made my own thread on this, sorry.

However wanted to post it in here as well

"Just curious for those that took the test.

Do they look at...............

When your stopping, do they look at the rider placing 1 foot down (left foot) and then the second (right foot) due to the rear brake???

Plus, do they like it when you flash your brakes when you stop to be seen??

Also, since my one turn light is obstructed by my pipe, is it ok to HAND SIGNAL EVERYTHING or will they nail you on not having both hands on??

What about blind spots?? I never ride in Blind Spots, will they nail you on speeding up just a touch to get out of them or slowing down a touch to get out of them??

What about intersections??? I usually like to make sure there is a car going thru somewhat at the same point in time as I go thru, just as a guard, or to make sure that there is no chance that they will go tru and clip me. cause there is another larger vehicle there.

I ride with high beems all the time, will they dock me for it???

Yes I know to do the left, right, left in an intersection.

I have been told that they dont like you to take you hands off the bars, but as stated above, I need to hand signal as that turn signal is not in visable.

PLUS here is the biggest thing, my tank is dented in, kinda like a stunters is, will they let me take the test with it like that???"

"The only problem I really have is that my Sprockets are -1 (Front) +2 on rear. this throws my bikes SPEEDO out of wack.

So I am hoping that if I stay with the flow of traffic, I should be ok.

Did anyone have to do the complete bike check at an emergancy stop, or before the test started? You know what I mean, tires, signals, horn, headlights, brake lights, stuff like that, however on your own?"

Ok so I took my test today in Oshawa.

I PASSED (WTF) me, pass???

Anyways, I did learn that you are allowed to flash your brakes. I was gcoming off at the PARK OFF RAMP and I was down gearing, she said I took to long to put on my brake lights and she knew I was down gearing. She said I could have tapped and flashed my brake lights to warn that I am slowing down.

I got a couple points taken off for not being in the right tire marks, but that's ok. Plus I got one, cause when I entered the RITSON ROAD on ramp, I hit the white line as I took my APEX. (Ooooppppssss).

Anyways I am just glad I am done eith it all.

I REPLIED IN CAPITALS AT THE END OF THE QUESTION

THEY TEST THE BIKE HORNS LIGHTS SIGNALS 4 WAYS EVERY BULB HAS 2 WORK

TIRES MUST BE GOOD WHY DO THEY CARE IF U CANT STOP U ARE ON THE BIKE AND WIL KILL YOURSELF NOT THEM IF U CANT DO IT LEARN OR FIX THE BIKE

Hi,

Question i didnt see in previous postings..

When in an intersection, making a left turn, if the car in front makes the turn, how do you inch up??

Also, someone said when doing the emergency stop, keep the turn signal blinking, and then in some other posting - they said to turn it off ?? which is correct ??

Thanks
