Const. James Forcillo shot Sammy Yatim - the trial

Whatever the guilty verdict is, at least he is not getting away with no consequences and if that puts a little doubt on a Police officer before he goes trigger happy, I call it a win.

Or police training will be adjusted to never pause until the mag is empty. ;) Based on the verdict it was the pause that did him in.
I'm cynical of the greater impact here but I agree its great news one trigger happy police officer is off the streets.

My Opinion is that the Jury would have convicted of Murder if the Attempted murder charge wasn't on the table, it allowed them to charge him with something lesser knowing he killed the kid but felt bad for the cop.

Re: James Forcillo guilty of attempted murder!!!

how can he be found guilty of attempted murder, but not guilty of second degree murder when the victim died???

This is the outcome I expected - hard to image a cop beng found guilty of 2nd degree murder but with the video beng public, he had to charged with something so we got the lowest charge.

This will go on for sometime yet - the defense will apply for a stay while they plan an appeal. During that time, Forcillo continues to be an office (albeit assigned to admin duties) and collect all this benefits including his six- figure salary.

He didn't know the kid was dead when he shot the second set of bullets, in that circumstance he is guilty of attempted murder since it was excessive, but since they found it justifiable to start shooting in self defense he is not guilty of murder. Makes total sense

It was probably a compromise between jurors that wanted him in jail and the others that thought he was not guilty of anything, that way they all get to go home

Pencil me in for 1) the usual outrage and 2) this is bull

He has been found guilty of attempted murder for the second set of 6 shots he fired after the initial 3 shots were fired. His fault or the training, it must be a bit demoralizing for all the good cops out there. They spend so much time building trust with the communities.

What's the over/under on this being dismissed on appeal?

Well, your typical Juris Doctor program in Canada is actually 3 years...
And don't police learn the law (and how to be a police officer) in 2?

With my warmestestes of hearts, i say: :angel1::bigsmurf::angel2:

True, but actuaally, it 3-4 yeaurs (BA) + 3 yrs (JD/LLB/law skquool) + 10 munths articleing + Bars exum.... So, puster kindeof rite! :hello2:

Is this Morris code? Morse code is clearer.

Both of those cops maybe can get PTSD and FDFL* counselling?

Except during your undergraduate you don't have to study law. Which means they aren't studying law for 8 years.

And articling is done during the 3 years for the most part.

I was all over that too but kept quiet because I'm trying to shake the poindexter vibe for riding a lowered bike. I'm in a rehabilitative phase right now. Keep up the good fight Joe.
