Cars and Excessive Rolling Stops

From what i've read the roundabout signalling it is similar to a normal intersection. If you intend to turn right, use the right turn signal; if you intend to drive straight through... then no signal; if you want to turn left, use the left turn signal. It sounds simple enough.

This is assuming you don't have a giant ****ing tree or monument in the centre of the roundabout and you can actually see where the other vehicle is coming from.

Yes, you're supposed to signal in the direction of your exit as you approach it. Unfortunately most of the roundabouts in the GTA are too small for you to do this and insufficient notice would be given.

Pursuant to this discussion, and Sunday being one fine day, I hit some local roundabouts on an exploratory basis. It appears one can signal the opposite of intent or not at all and it doesn't seem to have any bearing on the outcome. The fact that I'm sitting here pecking into the keyboard is all the proof anybody should need.

Meh, wait until some comes through clockwise. That might ring your bell.

Last night at about 2:00 am exiting Highway 400 at Langstaff road; ahead of me there was a Mercedes SUV (about 200 m). They signal their intent to turn left, slow and enter the left turn lane. I expect them to come to a stop as the traffic light is red. They slow to a near stop, then turn left.

It appears that to some of these people it doesn't matter whether it's a left turn or right turn on red, they just don't want to wait as they are too important.
