Todays annoyance...

Go to get gas before work. Fill bike, go in to pay. Lady in front of me buys a bunch of lotto tickets and decides to stand at the counter to scratch them. Wins $6 and cashes it in, gets more tickets, decides to stand there and scratch those.

Is it just me or should you GTFO of the line and scratch your tickets, then return to the line if you want to cash in the big winfall and get more?

Didn't say anything since I was in uniform but I was thinking it. GTFO of the line!!!!

Just because you're in uniform doesn't mean you can't do the right thing.

When the tickets are paid for that's the end of the transaction. gtfo. If you win and want to complete a second transaction, get to the back of the line. Cashier should have said something.

Yea but it's a small town with small town mentality. People don't buy stuff and move on. They have to discuss the weather/their families/whatever they read in the paper etc.

Same thing in bank lines or grocery store.

It's the unfortunate norm here.

For me I think its fair to use "excuse me do you mind if...."
That's perfectly fine in my books but who knows different cultures have different norms

The problem is that she'd start **** about uniformed thugs muscling her outta the way and her clique would start raising a stink. Gotta maintain good relations with the community even if it involves putting up with bs at times.

But that's my point...you sound like you wish you didn't open it after they didn't thank you. Why let them not thanking you ruin your day a for a couple of seconds? It'd be nice if they thanked you for it, but who cares if they don't. It's like you need a pat on the back to do something nice.

That's why, depending upon what uniform, you say, "Excuse me, do you mind if I pay for my gas? I have to get back to work" ;)

I, for one, don't need a pat on the back for trying to be a good citizen. That sort of behaviour makes me less want to be a good citizen though. I suspect it's the same for others, who would otherwise try to be considerate to their fellow man too.

You're reading a lot into this. I didn't say it ruined my day or that I only did it for recognition. This is a thread about annoying things. They could be mildly annoying or infuriating, I didn't specify.

For example, I find your posts on the subject to be mildly annoying but I'll forget about you about 5 seconds after I type this.

The locals don't like us much. We have jobs and all our teeth :). They don't like "cityits" (city idiots) either. I wouldn't live here if it wasn't for the fact that I have to. Hard to explain and you would have to see it for yourself I guess. Basically any minor issue gets turned into a major one so I just keep quiet.

We have a couple that complain about us ALL going 120+ down the road all the time so the OPP sits on it and pulls nobody over.

Asking them to move is interpreted as aggressive. It's their ******** town, not mine.

OK, I work pretty close to the washroom at work (thank jeebus today is my 2nd last day) but why the F do 90 percent of the guys at work have liquid sh!ts and I think they push that stuff out like they are giving birth, I mean you can hear it from 20 feet away. This has to be my all time biggest pet peeve with work environments. It is not your personal diarrhea retreat, eat some cheese or something and firm that toilet glue up. Well I pee on the seat now so I guess we're even...teehee

I understand, but you can also inform her that other people have lives to live & the world doesn't revolve around them. But I gotta admit some people cannot be reasoned with. Its like talking to a tree

Quite a few people I deal with on a daily basis.. They won't listen to facts and reason and will just pick and choose to make you look like Hitler incarnate.

Agreed, Many people take everything personally. When I handed in my notice at work (for strictly business reasons) It was told to me that when my manger went to the CEO of the company his reply was "how can he do this to me" he has yet to speak to me and simply ignores me. Being level headed seems not to be the norm anymore...

A company I was working for closed down the office where I was employed. They tried to short me on termination and severance pay, by saying that I had received written notice two weeks before I actually did. I received verbal notification but the legal standard is written, as I advised them within minutes of being told that I was being laid off. I filed with the Employment Standards Branch. When they contacted the company's CFO he sent me an email, sounding all personally butt-hurt, saying that I knew when I had been told and asking that I "correct" ESB on the issue. Since he had been using me to write his business correspondences for 7 years, he got a well written "suck it up" by way of response ;)

Held the door open for an old couple at Tim Horton's, neither of them said a word so I loudly said "you're welcome". Another old guy came right behind them so I held the door for him as well figuring he'd restore my dwindling faith in humanity... no joy.

This thread feels like home. :-)

A legitimate annoyance and worthy of this thread. And I don't think you're as pure as the driven snow yourself. And also I think knowledge is onto something as well. Country road take me home:cool:
