Thanks for the clarification @BigEvilDoer
Do you mean the contracting company is getting paid $2 to deliver the items in the bag. How many items are in there? On Monday and Tuesday this week, we had 31 and 25 relay bags full of mail come back. It was basically 100% coverage. They pay a subcontracted delivery company $2 per bag for delivery. Posties need to take cabs around to pick up the bags and return to depot.
Is it luck? This is not uncommon with USPS.Lucky you… guessing the customs dept is overwhelmed by the number of parcels and is fast tracking everything under a certain value amount.
Relay Bags: Bags containing mail - usually as much as a letter carrier can carry at once. They are delivered to Relay Boxes by the subcontracted company. Each bag will be tagged with a location as to where the bag needs to be delivered.Do you mean the contracting company is getting paid $2 to deliver the items in the bag. How many items are in there?
You need to explain this for the uninformed curious minds.
What is a relay bag?
I get nailed for customs from USPS parcels coming into Canada about 3/4 times. Is it luck? This is not uncommon with USPS.
Custom's clearance is done differently by couriers and CPC. For personal importations (except for controlled substances) shipments entering Canada via CPC, customs applies de-minimus rules. Non commercial shipments that comes from the US or MX valued under $150 are tax and duty-free. For foreign shipments, it's $20 for duty and $40 for tax. But that's not all - Canada Customs also has an arbitrary de-minimus that runs up to a few hundred dollars, which means they won't assess tax or duties when the cost of administering OR the economic impact of slowing clearance flows exceeds the amounts collected. This varies with backlog.Went to the post office and picked up a bearing I ordered from Partzilla on November 13th. Once again a USPS cross border delivery with no extra duty or costs.

Believe you me - this is a nationwide grievance that will 100% be brought to the attention of the CIRB when negotiations begin again in May.It seems getting the inprogress and delayed mail sorted and delivered is not a priority for CP.
If CP is deliberately denying OT to everyone, but is refusing to put this in writing, some have reported, then it appears it is more important to punish workers than to clear a significant backlog for their customers. CP "saved" significant funds during the strike as their operating costs went way down, so any position re not paying OT because they cannot afford to would not wash with me.
IMO, politicians need to hold CP management to account on this. This is a great opportunity for Skippy to rant and rave to gain more ground. I'd support him on this.
