They are still going to charge service fees, but they are going to be optional for those that want their services, mostly enterprise. I guess its competition that is driving this change. Perhaps this puts more money in the pockets of their carriers which will perhaps push carriers to sell the products harder. Not really sure but you would think their is a good reason for this. However, hopefully the new BB10 phones sell well. If they do, than RIM will start making money again in hardware.
As for the stock, this is par for the course for RIM. Sentiment changes just like that. The stock is going to take a major blow today but I don't know how much of it is going to be real selling. Those short on RIM are going to try and tear it apart today but we'll see if some big buyers come in to help the share price a bit.
