Sammy's stealing the spotlight today. New phone hits the market later today.
This is being predicted to be a ko punch for Apple.
Imagine the hurt it's going to put on Betty?

There has been lots of action in the mobile industry this week.
First, Samsung is launching a much-anticipated new smartphone in New York this evening--a phone that many observers think will vault it ahead of Apple and the rest of the smartphone industry.
The existing version of this phone, the Galaxy S3, has already put Samsung on a par with Apple, with many phone buyers preferring the Galaxy's large screen to the smaller one on Apple's iPhone 5.
Samsung's new phone, the Galaxy S4, will be even bigger, and it is also expected to have several other new features that may make the iPhone look old and boring in comparison.

At the end of the day, the S4 is just another warmed over Android, joining the ranks of other excellent Androids.... LG Optimus G, Sony Xperia Z (my personal fave), HTC One.

There is only ONE Black Betty, and the haters can't deny that they are punching above their weight.

==================

Jankowski’s checks show the BlackBerry Z10 is selling exceptionally well:

“We conducted retail checks at nearly 40 stores in the UK, Canada, UAE, and India, to gauge the Z10 launch sales and subsequent demand. Specifically, we asked questions around popularity, sales trajectory, consumer feedback, inventory, and return rate. Based on these, we believe that most stores had a successful launch week, followed by steady demand for the device. Z10’s pricing around the world implies an ASP of over $500, well above the November quarter’s smartphone ASP of $227 (Exhibit 1). As a result, we expect the Z10 ramp to drive a significant increase to BlackBerry’s ASPs and margins, implying upside to consensus estimates in FY4Q and to a greater extent in the May and August quarters, which include 3 months of shipments globally as opposed to 1 month of shipments in limited regions in FY4Q (Feb).”

Even famed BlackBerry bear, Peter Misek, has begun to be bullish. His checks show build orders have been raised 3 times in 6 weeks. Misek speculates the 1 million handset order came from a U.S. carrier or a top distributor (Ingram Micro/Brightstar).

None of that has proven to be true.

It's headlined in tech media, but mainstream media have it buried under tons of other news. It will hit the market at the end of April, not today. As for a "KO punch for Apple", that's just a ridiculous concept. It's simply impossible given the level of maturity of their ecosystem. And when it comes to Betty Boop's health, nothing has changed. The Z10 still has the same advantages over the S4 as it had over the S3. As long as the big boys are focused on fighting each other, BB will continue to benefit.

Don't shoot the messenger. It was a copy and paste. I just changed the name, for s's and g's. Don't ya just love analysts?
Doesn't matter to me who claims bronze in this foolishness.
My bottom line is: I'd like to see Betty survive in Canada. If a foreign behemouth swallows her, dats dat.
I have nothing to lose, or gain.

A wise man once told me that analysts are nothing more than comic relief. I guess now it's been proven.

So far the reviews I've read on the Galaxy S4 paint a picture Im not surprised to see. Its a potent device but basically, the phone has a million features that nobody except techno-nerds with too much time on their hands will use or appreciate. The feedback is that its not really user friendly and can be annoying/confusing to use.

It just looks like more minor incremental upgrades to me. Nothing mind blowing but I think the smartphone space is so saturated that its going to be hard for any device to really impress the public any more.

After the software updates, I'm reasonably satisfied with the Z10.

I dislike how they removed a lot of customizing options (how to view and sort your files, how ALL of the icons are auto-allign to the top). I don't see the point of being able to create new icon pages when they force you to have a single line at the very top of the screen.

The camera is the best part of it, and I do like the HUB.... overall, a good phone. Not the best in the world, but the best blackberry.

Just in time for the F1 season.

FREE F1 app just released for BB10.

Counts down to the next practice, qualifying and race.

Has latest news, points, ranks and more.

Also works well with the "live tiles" when you have other productive things to do on your phone while keeping an eye on the race.

I agree, as I feel the same but I can't want for the Q10. I'm trying to sell my Z10 in preparation for the bb with a keyboard.

Just got the BB10 as I'm in IT and a part of a pilot group who is testing it. I've had it for a few days now and slowly getting use to the change.

I have a Samsung Galaxy s3 as my personal phone and I actually really love the size and feel better on the blackberry. Also I like how they constructed the back of the blackberry (the texture).

Currently installing some updates on it and getting all my personal info on it. I'll use it until the Q10 is released as I think we will probably use that as our corporate standard device as we role it out to end-users.

Isn't that just about how they sell everything else.
Do you use all the features or even know what is on your bike and car?
The vast majority buy things to make themselves feel better and to validate themselves by showing off to others.
We all know there are real piece of junk cars out there yet people still buy them.
A good example would be how the truck business advertised.

What goes up must come down?
That is life.
Buy what makes you happy or buy the product with the functionality you require.
It's a phone, move on. There are children without clean drinking water.
Direct your energy to help create something.
hmmm

I've gotten used to the phone, and really liking it. The software updates fixed the battery usage issues from out of the box reviews. I can have my wifi on and battery still lasts my daily usage.

And I'm starting to prefer how everything hovers open when you exit it until you hit that close button. A lot better than what Android does by hiding it in the background when you never really closed it. Either the app or program is opened, or its closed. No accidental browser or data usage.

And thumbs up for not ad-whore'ing Angry Birds like android did.
