blackberry 10

They beat the street on just about everything. Back to profits. A million Z10's sold by Mar 2 (that's where I became doubtful).
How convienient.
Thing is, subs are down another 2M again - second Q in a row they've (reportedly) lost 2M subs. That can't keep up, unless they start charging $1600/phone, and that isn't going to happen.
They also claim: half of the new subs are "new" to BB. Do the book cookers think everyone who reads their crap is really that dumb ?
The CFO, and his minions must be excellent chefs (cooking the books). I think this is the reason Lazaridis is calling it a day with BlackBetty. He hung around long enough to 'assist' in the BB Z10 launch.
Q: Why won't he stay for the Q10 launch?
A: His nearly finished, 26,000sq' house, which began construction in 2006, is just about ready to move into.
Good move Mike, good move.

Spin it any way you want........ THEY'RE MAKING MONEY.

-Wall St expected a loss. RIM turned a profit.
-$2.9 billion in the bank, no debt.
-55% of buyers came from other platforms
-there are still 30 countries left that will be launching the Z10.
-the Q10 will launch soon, and qwerty diehards and enterprise customers will be all over this.
-their lucrative service revenue, only dropped by 3% which is great as they continue to ramp up BB10 production esp in Enterprise where they will make more money for services by supporting all devices.
-Before the end of this year, they have a new flagship phone that will compete with the S4 and HTC One.

Say what you want, but Thorsten Heins is doing a fantastic job and the company is definitely punching above its weight.

Let's see. If apple can make a comeback and become a behemoth that it has there RIM can do it. They might not have a Steve jobs, but they have more resources than apple did at the time.

O'leary is da man.....

The BlackBerry Z10: “This is the best technology on the market today”

Some people are simply just blackberry haters. They have a preference for another brand and that's fine. But anyone with any common sense would know that blackberry is not dead by any means. They didn't release a new phone for almost 2 years and still had billions in the bank and zero debt. Now they will be releasing 6 new phones this year, you really think they wont make a profit? Of course they will, they may not be the powerhouse they once were in the smartphone market when they had no competition, but they will definitely get back some market share now they have a product to sell. I bought bb stock when it was at $8, everyone thought I was nuts, Sold at $15, then re-bought at $13 and holding strong.

Kevin O'Leary is an idiot! He was the first one bashing bb saying it was dead, and now he seems to have changed his tune. rolls eyes

I still say my 9900 was the best phone I ever had. I can't wait to get the Q10, right now I'm still using my z10 and its ok. I'm really not a touch screen fan. Everyone I know with a BB is still waiting for the Q10 before they upgrade their phone. Majority of the existing bb customer base have not bought the new 10 phones yet and they made $98 Million in one month of sales during the last quarter and that was not in their biggest market.

Q10 is here in soon, "in coming weeks" according to BBRY.

Many are waiting for this model, and there are a couple of features on it that trump the Z10, Can't wait to see one in flesh.

Man, Blackberry need to find the guy who keeps leaking their powerpoint presentations and fire him. They can't keep anything secret.

I don't think a another Playbook tablet will do very well with the consumer crowd if its expensive. There are so many cheap Android tablets overcrowding that whole market. Its gonna have to be really geared to enterprise.

What's the Q10 going to have that the Z10 doesnt?

Not a fan of QWERTY phones anymore..... I had my fill of it.

The Q10 is pretty much just the next iteration of the Bold. Not really a "wow" device but for those who prefer a keyboard, its pretty much the only good one out there. I have a work issued Bold 9900 and I prefer it to a pure touch device but thats probably because Im old school that way

The thing I like most about the touch screen devices is the screen size, but thats about it. The screen on the Samsung Galaxy looks great and I sort of dig that Nokia Lumia 920 but Im just not digging touch screen "everything". I like tactile experiences, mechanical devices, I like button click and all that goodness. I'd rather carress actual boobs, than a glass screen of boobs so I just hate the idea of touch screen glass all over the place. Its like muting the sensory experience for our fingers.

I was testing out the Microsoft Surface Pro and you can get a touch keyboard or a type keyboard. The touch keyboard is so totally crappo and provides no user feedback when you are hitting the keys. It basically is like hitting a touch screen. Obviously they understand that many people would hate this kind of experience and so they also offer a type keyboard which feels more like a laptop with all that button click niceness.

The Q10 has a much bigger battery, an even nicer than the Z10s OLED screen, and apparently its of a upper scale build quality using glass on the back of the handset as well.

I hated glass keyboards too (the iphone with its tiny buttons is the worst offender), until the Z10 came along. I can construct a sentence in 5 flicks, rather than 30-50 button presses. When I want to put my name at an end of an email, 1 flick is all it takes. Or if i introduce an email, one flick gets me "Hello,". The autocorrect and autosuggestion are absolutely mind blowing and time saving. The Z10 learns and adapts to YOUR common speech words and phrases and puts them in its memory for the next suggested use.

Why the hell would anybody want to manually type each individual character anymore or go back and manually correct and retype a sentence?

^^ we don't....the predictive text on my phone works pretty well and even on my ipad I can program any number of abbreviated key shortcuts.

Trolling at it's finest :lmao:

Rule of thumb..... if it ain't on crackberry.com mainpage by the editors, its likely a false story.

They have connections to verify stories that none of the other bb sites do.

That site is so successful, even RIM Waterloo management follow it, and the forums to see whats going on.

DIY end user trouble shooting support network that even BB can't match and follow themselves? Not very confidence inspiring.

Z10 Launch Disappoints
Today shareholders received news that not only did the Z10 launch start off poorly but it got weaker as time went on. According to Detwiler research analyst Jeff Johnston and ITG analyst Joe Fersedi, sales of the Z10 were about as weak as the older BlackBerry models and the Nokia (NOK) Lumia 822. Additionally, Johnston pointed out that stores have seen a significant increase in returns to the point where they exceeded sales. Not good, especially when your company's lifeblood is almost entirely dependent upon phones.

“BlackBerry wishes to respond to media coverage today regarding speculation that there have been abnormally high levels of returns of BlackBerry Z10 devices. This is absolutely false. Our data shows that return rates for BlackBerry Z10 devices both in the U.S. and on a global basis are in line with or better than our expectations and are consistent with return rates for other premium smartphones in the market today.”

Someone wanted cheaper shares.
Even I laughed when I read that: "returns are out numbering sales".
