blackberry 10

Misek has spoken, and he has much to say. :)

Looks like BB will be getting more of my money for them "to waste" by the end of the year. Maybe they'll use it to make another superbowl commercial? :) :) :)

#BlackBerryisBack

That's good. Imagine if Misek paid that dunce from Detwiler to print that trash? (I was thinking it was true) and wondered why Misek took so long to pop his head out.
If his estimates are even close for the next 2Q's, Betty's s/p will be $40 - $50.
I'd round up every last nickel I can get my hands on and buy the stock at 'market' 1st thing tomorrow, if I believed one word of his.
It's quite sad to see what these *** hats get away with. Detwiler (writer) making himself look like a dunce, and now Misek spouting out unattainable numbers. Stock market + anaylsts = Jokes.

Never mind the money they blew making that Super Bowl commercial - think of the $M down the drain for the air time!
Enjoy your phonesssssss.

Crapo Tire chooses BB10

Canadian Tire Group Beginning at the end of April, employees from across its Family of Companies – including Canadian Tire, Financial Services, Mark’s and FGL Sports (Sport Chek, Sports Experts, National Sports and Atmosphere) – will use BlackBerry 10 smartphones as their primary business device.

I bought the BlackBerry Z10 the second day it was out, have used it thoroughly and it's great. Dropped it like 10+ times with no case and she still lives! Could use more apps (Shazam, snap chat & many more). If I haven't broken it at work, I call it a good phone. My iPhone 4s screen went bye bye within a few weeks. BlackBerry is still the best business phone or as some call it "Bidness"... (;

Whats goin' BB haters????

Time for a little more BB love in this thread..... :)

-BlackBerry Q10 is 'fastest-selling electronics device ever' at Selfridges as corporates snap it up

-Q10 buzz spiking shares--RBC raises estimates

-BB stock is gaining at near $16.
-the analysts have underestimated how many people are waiting for the Q10.
-perhaps the highest anticipated app for BB which is Skype has been released.
-their major updated to the OS which is called 10.1 brings a tonne of new features and updates to the already awesome OS. This is their second update in less than 4 months. How many years before Android people see their updates?

Disclosure #1: I own the stock but I had been short April call options against it ... I used today as an opportunity to buy the options back.

I might as well follow this up. Following the above, a couple days later I wrote May $15 call options against my position in BB. Well, last Friday was expiration Friday, and it closed a smidge above $15 (although on a down trend) so I no longer have any position in BB. At this point, I have no plans to buy back in unless it drops into the $13 range - then I'll look at it again.

On the overall ... I wish more trades that I've done worked out that well.

As for the Z10 itself ... it's working fine.

Got the q10....and I have only had a blackberry since 1999 and loved every new model they brought out and bought them instantly... I hated it the first day, hated it the second day now im tolerating it 3 days later...i will say the browser is great but nothing else is a real improvement...It's not intuitive , they got rid of some things I liked like auto on and off. And why can't I turn the phone off and set my alarm to wake up?? It won't turn on for the alarm like all the old ones did. I'm not an apple fan but it if they made a keyboard phone I would be gone.

You can get a keyboard case as an accessory for the iPhone

Been using the Z10 as a work phone for the past month, no complaints from me so far. Hasn't crashed or needed a battery pull like the old curve i used many moons ago. Does everything it needs to do the battery life is good, tapatalk actually works. Lack of apps is still an issue.

The 10.2 SDK has been released to developers and when the 10.2 version of the OS is released (in a month or 2) it will solve the issues you're having. It's one of the main reasons I still hold on to the 9900.

10.2 will have multiple alarms, on-off support, Level 1 notifications, among other improvements.
Might not be what you want to hear now, but realistically, the new phones are 1-2 more updates from being the all around device people want them to be.

The app functionality will catch up (and has started). The browser is powerful enough to handle a lot of things people needed 'apps' for previously.
The next update or 2 will see an update to the Android runtime environment to 4.0, meaning it will run the latest and greatest android apps much better than what's currently on the device (2.3).

Gahh...I was afraid that would be the case. Do you think it stands a chance as a stand-alone gps? The only apps that I could find for the q10 were the Magellan (with data) and the Mireo (offline, but maps are expensive).

The Nokia that you suggested looks promising but I'm too stubborn to let bb go and I'm thinking of just grabbing another 9900 in the meantime.

The stand-alone gps stuff will come later on, the only worthy solution that I'm aware of is Mireo (for both Z10 & Q10; they use TomTom maps so they're not starting from scratch, and you get lifetime updates, full offline features as well).

If you plan on doing more traveling and with BBM going cross platform this summer, I would really look into the Lumia 920. With the release of the 928, the price of the 920 has come down a bit, and with some haggling and kijiji prowess, you could find this phone for $350 New, Unlocked. Remember, it's a pentaband phone that works with every provider. The mapping and navigation features (FREE!) are worth it. I've had 2 friends recently pick them up and they couldn't be happier, one was coming from a 9700 BB, the other a Galaxy S2.

If a physical keyboard is a must, then you're stuck with the Q10. It's the best portrait keyboard phone out there (by default, if anything).

Its a shame the Q/Z 10 in its current form doesn't quite meet your needs. You couldn't pay me enough to go back to a 9900. I don't miss the freakin spinning hourglass everytime it needed to do a task, the general overall lagginess, the tiny screen, horrible built in gps, and the lousy browser.

Not that long ago, I almost made a switch to Android, but so glad I stuck with BB. No better overall communications and business machine IMHO.

From a 'getting-things-done' perspective, getting rid of my 9900, is like being a carpenter without your trusty hammer. It just works. I don't have any 'apps' on it apart from TuneIn Radio and tapatalk. The rest are BB native (BB Traffic, BB Travel, mostly). If I need apps or to browse, I pick up my Asus tablet. When I'm traveling, I have the playbook because of it's size (great for watching movies on flights but it was only $100, so amazing bang for the buck, for what it is).

The profiles, message notifiers and control that the current legacy OS provides, is what's missing from the 'latest and greatest' BB10 devices. They're coming, they'll get there. They've already made changes and updates. Like I said, the Q10 (for me) is still 1 or 2 updates from being the workhorse I need it to be, or that BB device people are familiar with, that have stuck with the brand since the late 90's.

one by one, the app gap narrows.

We got Skype recently, and now today..... SoundHound (If you know what Shazam is, you'll know what Sound Hound is).

Works great!

Not bad for an entirely new platform that was just launched at the end of Jan.

*yawn*

11.18% drop in a MONTH.

LOL

Congratulations on finally getting an App that was on my google phone in 2009. That's the innovation I'm sure the stock holders celebrate as their BBRY stock drops like a brick.

So when is this stock supposed to break $20? Are we still waiting for any quarterly sales reports or US proffits or Q10 figures, blah blah blah?

The future looks lackluster and stagnant in a saturated market. So what does BB have next up, now that the bleeding has stopped (just)?
