blackberry 10

So when is this stock supposed to break $20? Are we still waiting for any quarterly sales reports or US proffits or Q10 figures, blah blah blah?

The future looks lackluster and stagnant in a saturated market. So what does BB have next up, now that the bleeding has stopped (just)?

They are going to start selling a Q5 and a Z5 in 3rd world countries. Won't do anything for their bottom line.
The short interest in the stock is incredible. Notice how it just keeps growing and growing every 2 weeks since ~Q10 release:

edit: BTW - that's over 40% of the float. IMO, the only thing that will drive the s/p up is a concrete bid for the company. That will create a HUGE short squeeze, and it could see $35. Largest casino on the planet - don't think for one second that Betty is exempt.

Posted on page 1 of this thread :

RIM has no chance now!

Expect BB10 to flop worse than the Playbook, if it ever makes it to market.

As for an investment.....if you buy it around $4, you may see it rise to $5 in the sell off, but you are nuts to think it will ever even get back to $10, let alone $30 or $170. It's over.

You need to find a new crystal ball as your page 1 thread prediction has yet to materialize.

Stil hating the q10. Phone is awful with people Complaining they can't hear me or I sound muffled. I spoke to Edward Rogers and he uses an HTC ONE. He was a long time blackberry guy going back to 99 like me so maybe that is saying something. I'm still stuck on having a keyboard but I'm losing that attitude over time as this phone lets me down

Been with the Z10 for the past 2 months now. No regrets! Just like you, I have been with the keyboard balckberry since 2000 (the original) and through the various keyboard models for the past 13 years. Dual wielded various smart and non smart phones with the blackberry throughout as personal devices and corporate devices and never really liked the "touchscreens" before. I can honestly tell you that I have been thoroughly surprised by the keyboard on the Z10. I did a comparison on type speed for ***** and giggles and I can type faster on my Z than my previous bold 9900.

For what it's worth, I did play with one of my colleagues Q10 and didn't like it. The buttons texture seemed all wrong to me, but he said that he's grown to "like" it. At the end of the day its a phone and finally I can say that it's no lesser than the other ones out there with some neat innovations built in.

Check out the A10 that's coming out. Has all the top drawer specs of the HTC and S4.

Doesn't solve his QWERTY keyboard need.

Neither does an HTC One

But at least with the HTC one, you have an OS that's been in it's current form longer than 6 months. Most of the bugs have been worked out.

one by one, the app gap narrows.

We got Skype recently, and now today..... SoundHound (If you know what Shazam is, you'll know what Sound Hound is).

Works great!

Not bad for an entirely new platform that was just launched at the end of Jan.

Pointing out how there are now apps for bb that were available on Android or iOS years ago is a slippery slope.

For me (like others in this thread), it's about evaluating my options and choosing a platform that meets my needs.
I had tried BB in the iphone 4 days (incomparable, really) and ended up getting an iphone which I later traded for an android.

Your point about Android users having to wait "years" for an upgrade only proves that one OS is much more mature and has already made significant strides while the other hasn't and is trying to catch up. Why is that a selling point? It's a similar argument to the "we now have skype!" one. No need to point out that BB is still behind the times - we already know that.
Having Skype available shouldn't be news. It should just be.

Maybe, just maybe, all three OSes will be in a similar place at some point in the future. As things stand, there's absolutely no reason to switch to BB if you have a non-RIM smart phone so most people won't. Hence the doom and gloom in some people's predictions!
You can only get things wrong THAT long. About time RIM started copying the more successful platforms.

On the subject of flops, here's a fearless prediction for you.

Google Glass. While I believe that wearable tech of some form has an enormous potential, google glass ain't it.

If anybody comes near me wearing those goofy glasses, Im going to punch them right in the face.

I'll wear it if someone can put infrared or x ray vision on it. Imagine seeing miles ahead while driving, or being able to see outlines of heat signatures in a dark alleyway.

I hope the makers are taking note

If they make a contact lens version of google glass that would be awesome. The glasses are hideous

Hey Sonny, do you mind buying a pair for a Cop and have Sunny S meet said Cop.
thx

I'm with you.

I was a keyboard guy since 99.. tried iphones and androids here and there.. fine devices but not for me.. always came back to my blackberry keyboard. Or at least I thought it was the keyboard.. bought a Z10 as a stop gap measure more or less just to support the platform, figured I'd only use it until the Q10 came out because I'm a die hard keyboard guy.. funny thing happened, turned out I loved the Z10 and kept it. The on screen keyboard didn't give me any of the same greif it did on those other devices. Still.. I tried to like the Q10 when it hit the shelves... and it's ok.. if I was still using my bold 9900 I'd probably think the Q10 was the greatest thing since sliced bread.. but it's nowhere near the Z10 in my opinion.

Wouldn't trade the Z10 for anything else on the market at the moment.

Google glasses are ugly indeed, but imagine where the technology will be in 10 years. I'm very excited for them!
