Prime location on jarvis if you're downtown, if you're missing teeth and willing to suck a **** for 5 bucks there seems to be a great location at eglinton / weston. :D

Wow! First Sabex converted Roasted and now you.

It's the first bike theft in the building. we've never had any other motorcycle thefts.

The sercurity was good....well I guess decent, now I don't think so.

From someone with experience. Security companies usually send the guards that are un able to work with others or in high profile sites to work the Condos. That being said you usually get older peeps that want an easy job or students working in Condos so they can study. Not saying that you can't someone good at a condo, just saying the chances are low.

Also, they are pretty much stationed at a concierge desk for most of their shift with some cameras to look at. Camera's are not everywhere in a parking lot, anyone can piggy back in behind someone that swipes a fob and it looks normal on camera. Lots of distractions at in the lobby as well preventing guards from looking at the camera's all the time as well.

Also, some condos do not need a fob for day time hours. Means anyone can drive up to the garage door and it will open for anyone.

Patrols are done usually hourly and most guards become complacent and do them at the same time all the time so very easy for theives to figure out when the guard will be in the parking lot again.

For any condo to have good security in any of their parking lots, their lots would have to be manned 24/7. For example standing by the entrance ensuring everyone is swiping in and also doing random patrols to ensure nothing suspicious is going on. I do not see this ever happening.

The best way to look at it is that the guard at any condo is basically a concierge with a uniform on. Most cameras in such buildings are crappy. Make it very hard for your bike to be a target. Cover it, chain it and alarm it. I know this sounds funny but it's been mentioned before, if you can get a spot and put a mini van in it, you can store your bike in the mini van. Yea the mini van can be stolen but chances are if a thief is looking for a bike, they wont give a mini van a second look let a lone notice a bike in it.

People, we live in a huge city with lots of bad people around. Just cause something hasn't happened to you does not mean that it wont. Don't be naive, bad people prey on that.

Just don't get a Dodge Caravan because that seems to be the van they like to steal so they can fit the bikes in.

There are stories of people getting the bike back 20 and 30 years later.
Time after time of being passed from person to person, somebody will eventually try to register the bike or regain ownership of a bike they bought and it will turn up as a stolen bike.
It happened to a friend of mine with a bike he bought legitimately.
