You can tour on anything. Just a matter of comfort, range, and what's important.

More miles on the triumph, the fueling, brakes and transmission continue to impress, I like the engine as well...

I sense the handling is amazing as well but the low temps and onterrible roads mean that I'm barely scratching the surface...summer cant get here fast enough.

Going to put a slip-on exhaust pipe on it?

my current tailbag was far too bulky for the triumph rear seat, so got the nelson rig commuter lite tailbag. Its expandable like the bigger one, and probably just as bulletproof and much more sleek.

Realized I can tour even leaner, dont really need much more than tools, water, and the occasional snack on the road.

Much cleaner, no more overhang or bulkiness, perfect size for me

I've had the exact same one for a few years. Does your passenger seat come with a cowl option to replace it?

With my Monster+, I've got a passenger seat and a red cowl. With the passenger seat, I trimmed & screwed the bottom bag straps to the underside seat plastic for a much cleaner and tighter fit. If I don't need the tail bag, I just remove the seat and strapped-on-bag all in 1 shot and put the cowl on.

Yes, seat cowl came with the bike

So you drilled the bottom of the rear seat? Interesting

Yeah with a larger washer to keep the strap in place.

What was your old tail bag? I put a Shad SH59X box on mine for touring and 2-up but want a smaller bag for solo adventure/offroad riding. Thinking of a decent size soft bag (couple sandwiches, protein shake, power bank, 5 water bottles).

I still have it, it’s the Nelson rigg touring model, it’s got a larger footprint, probably 4 square inches bigger. They’re all expandable, even this smaller one. I overstuffed and abused the older one and it still works well.

It fits well on the 1290 and Africa twin, but is too bulky for the triumph

5 water bottles? I often ride with a camelbak. Thats enough water for the day and easy to drink without stopping.
