At track power options

Wow. Just wow. No one Peed in my genny but I do have a new idea on what to break if I ever caught someone messing with my stuff. Thanks

Edit- I've agreed from the get go that they shouldn't be running. But unless its a bylaw(may be some ammo for ya) there is no law against people being arseholes. There should be, but there isn't.

All that is required for the conquest of evil is for good men to do nothing.

Tolerate those aresholes running their trash compactor generators all night and nothing will ever change.

Wow. Being new to all the racing, all this summer as I tried to sleep in my tent, I thought I just had to suck it up as all the RVs and Toyhaulers ran their gennys all night.

I actually don't mind that much although i don't run my genny at night... because it keeps the sounds level, it's the changes in sound that usually wake me. And I sleep like crap away from my bed at home to begine with. :(

Are there really that many people who run their generators at night? I'm a bit surprised because I was under the impression that everybody got along at SOAR. I remember seeing SOAR described as "The SOAR Family". Maybe that's right though, a boy running his genny at night to annoy his sister or something.

You shouldnt have to just suck it up. At Shannonville this year, when there were so few people that nearly everyone had plug in power, it was peacefully quiet at night.

People who have nice quiet inverter generators aren't the annoyance. Its the people who have cheap and loud generators that can be bothersome. It only takes a few to be annoying.

Some might not realize that their generator is bothering people. A polite word with them would remedy the issue. Some people are inconsiderate ********. Some people will drag their generator 100' from their pit but 20' from your tent. And tell you to **** off if you complain.

Race weekends have far fewer ******** than trackdays though.

Not many people do it. But when the generator in question fits Tim's apt description (trash compactor!) it only takes one.

The one that really ticked me off, happened at Shannonville.

The logical response would be to pick up the noisy beast and drag it back to the other end of the cord, no?

Is this powerful enough to run 2 tire warmers and my espresso machine?

My tire warmers take a LOT of juice. I attempted to run two off a 1500W generator and the overload fuse popped.

Add another 2-300 and you can get a nice Honda or Yamaha.

Doesn't matter what brand you have..... you'll never run 2 sets of warmers continuously and/or efficiently on anything less than a 2000.

Just because a generator has 1,900 stamped on the side doesn't always make it accurately so...

What brand of warmers do you have? Even a pair of bickles would never run on a 1500..... a single set runs on my 1,000 fine.

Honda EU2000 inverter is rated ar 59 dB at full load at 7.5 metres
Honda EZ1800 generator is rated at 69 dB
This one falls pretty close to a standard generator at 66 dB.

I just cannot believe that they can sell a decent 1900 watt inverter for $550, maybe I'm wrong.

My champion is 1600w continuous (stamped 2000) and it will run 2 sets of bickles, JUST! If you time it so that the warmers cycle at different times it'll work, if you just plug them in the overload will eventually trip. It works in a pinch but if this is going to be your setup, get a bigger generator.

Don't forget to include time and cost and hassle of carrying the sound isolating box :)

Did you miss the part where i talked about cost of ownership?

My champion isn't loud enough to need a box around it. It's not dead quiet but it sure isn't a cement mixer either. If it lasts me till the end of the year then it will have costed me $250 a season, not cheap but it was something to get me through till I can afford a better unit. If you don't have the initial cash to throw around for a $1000 generator then these are decent alternative.
