Anyone here work in sales at Ford?

I know, it's not good..but.....it's been used 98.6425% of the time for city / grocery getting and dump runs since covid, no hiway. When it's cold out, the auto starter is my friend. I waste gas for 10 minutes while it warms up. When it's hot out, same thing, so the a/c works 10 minutes and no mileage rolls up.
Normal use would increase my numbers drastically.

I’ve had the 2500 for about 6,200kms and my overall average is 14.2 l/100km.
This includes roughly 10 minutes of warmup, running errands in and around Elmira and Waterloo, 1,700lb pallets in the bed, towing and the odd highway driving. Best I’ve ever done is 9.0 l/100km when I did a couple hours on the 401.
Doesn’t seem like the Honda is any better than that which is kind of sad.
The Maverick will get substantially better economy than that, which is part of why I’m buying it. Plus, compared to the price of the Honda, I can buy 4 and the 5th one will be free!

I’ve owned a couple Hondas , the parts prices were not friendly. My Ford parts are well priced ( not that I have needed anything yet , I just do some research)

One of our last work vans was an Odyssey and one of the current ones is a Caravan. The Caravan has spent substantially less time in the shop than the Odyssey and the repair bills are usually cheaper.
I think Honda’s are great for personal use, but they don’t seem to be able to stand up to ‘work use’.

Well priced. But you will need way more of them....

My only problem with my new ford was right now , occasionally the center screen goes black . Sit for 1-2 hrs and it comes back. Service advisor says they need a nap then they are fine . I like more science than that , big he’s right , it comes back .

I think the chip issues are better and interest rates should keep some at bay , your wait may not be awful.

Tip I was given is ask what the dealership has on order that is unsold and see if that’s close enough to your spec. I got my Bronco Sport last summer in 3 wks taking a unit that was in bound , not presold .

I've got a dealer doing just that for me. As long as it isn't too big an upsell we'll be fine.

They are putting more than one AWD system into the mini bronco ?, my understanding is the Badlands version is different from the outer banks , and more off road ready .

it does but still doesn't stand up to repeated use due to the clutch style diff. if you Google there's more than a few first hand reviews (reputable car media) where it overheated on light trails.

edit: need to add my 2 cents, I have had a gen2 Ridgeline, ecoboost f150 and a gen 1 raptor. the Ridgeline cost the most and was no better vehicle except slightly better ride quality than the raptor. Mpg between ridge and f150 was the same but way less power and torque.

We had an Element as a service truck. POS. Caravans were tough and dependable, but thirsty and the door hardware doesn't stand up to commercial use.

TRANSIT Connects have been awesome. Ours have all gone 10 years, approx 400,000km. They all need tranny rebuilds at 150,000km, $3k, the rest is minor repairs which are all easy on parts and labour.

I want an electric city van. 250km range.

No you don't. That 250 range is complete ********. It's more like 150 once you load it, then in winter closer to 100. Then the limited quick chargers in the GTA means you may end up waiting an hour or more for someone to finnish charging before you can charge for an hour and a half. It's just a lot of extra headache for no savings when you consider that 100km range cost $20 to charge

Our vans do <100km/day, the gear is bulky but light - a fullly loaded service can carries 800lbs. We rarely go more that 15km to a job, 4 jobs/day do the guys can charge at home. The electric part is mostly marketing, I realize there us no economy in it.

Does anyone here work in sales at Ford within a reasonable distance from the Waterloo area? If you do, pm me with your dealer name/location and email address. Looking to order a Maverick for work. Might as well give the sale to someone in the bike community.

And for anyone feeling the need to chime in:
Yes, I know there’s a long wait, I’m just planning ahead.
Yes, I know it’s not a “real truck”. It’s joining a 1500 and 2500HD so I don’t need it to do “real truck things”.

I ordered a hybrid xlt lux pack in Sept of 2022 when order banks opened up. I still do not have a build date and Ford has scheduled Maverick builds already until mid April. Every Thursday they release more build dates. You may have better luck ordering an Ecoboom. Ford released they have capacity to build 35% hybrids and 65% Ecoboost. Their customer orders all came in reverse, 70% hybrid, 30% Ecoboost. The majority of us will not be getting a truck this year.

You can check out the fiasco on Maverick truck club forum. I'm willing to wait as I have three toys already. I believe order banks are closed in Canada for both hybrid and eco, so 2023 September is when you may be able to order again. There is no rhyme or reason to Ford's build status, some guys are still waiting from 2021 orders, while others who ordered in September already have their truck.

Ford will be starting a third shift at Hermosillo where they build the Mav and bronco sport. They have an abundance of bronco sports right now, so it's heard that it's to increase Mav production.

I sold my Focus ST commuter car on the hopes I would get a maverick in a timely 6 month wait. That didn't happen, so I ordered an Elantra N-line in the meantime while I wait, and that came in 1.5 months. Don't expect to pick up any cancelled incoming orders on the Mav, they don't exist. If they do be prepared to pay well over MSRP. They are in hot demand.

I ordered from Erinwood in Mississauga as I've ordered two cars from them in the past. Excellent dealer. Don't believe anything the dealers are telling you, they have no clue.Good luck and pack lots of patience 😂

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I was looking at getting the eco boost motor as we need AWD and the off-road package for driving through fields - got the minivan stuck too many times last year and ended up using the 1500 a lot more than needed simply for the 4x4.

You really can't go wrong with the AWD Ecoboost. The wait for these little guys is extraordinary though. See if order banks are still open in Canada, I'm not sure but I know in the US they closed within a few days. Rumour has it a hybrid AWD or plug in hybrid may be available for 2024

If I could get the same package that I put together for the eco boost but in a hybrid, I would absolutely do that. The only reason for not going hybrid was the need for AWD. A plug-in hybrid would be even better!
We’ll see what the sales rep says today. (Thanks for lead, @robertv19)

I've mentioned that I have one of these. They are awesome vehicles. When I need to tow something I borrow a friend's big truck.
I've seen 3.3 l/100km in stop-and-go traffic for a 25km trip many times. Average 5.7 l/100km in the summer and 7 l/100km in the winter for combined city/hwy. Verified. They are easily customizable. For example: the base XL (which I have) does not come with cruise control. You can buy the OEM wheel switches for $110 bucks and flip a bit in Forscan and voila! factory cruise control. Don't like the steering wheel? A Ford Focus RS wheel fits. Popular upgrade. A bunch of other hacks are out there - even adding adaptive CC. FWD does very well in the winter with snows. Easy to load a bike by yourself because of the low bed height. Fits in an underground with a bike in the bed. No way my last truck could do this.

I really want one of these small trucks. Zero need for it…but just want it.

Once the order books open up and wait times are down I’ll look into it as a Volt replacement.
