Send me your addy. You can't drink that alone.Maybe i'll bring along some of my favorite elixer.
Balvenie is always in the cupboard.I'm not rich.I've tried a lot of high end bottles. But for everyday drinking I say you can't beat Balvenie. "The Peat Monster" is a nice novelty bottle, too.
Johnny Walker, even "the good stuff" is the only thing I have ever put in my mouth that made my teeth ache. Garbage.
Looks it's a switch from my usual Brandy to Scotch tonight thanks to this thread.
There is usually a bottle of GB Rare in there too.The trip out east to get some, stay in an awesome inn and follow it with a round of golf at the best course in Canada is a tough act to follow. That's awesome stuff. I brought some home when we hit up the east coast last year. We ended up spending the night at the distillery too, cool stuff.
Bought a bottle of The Macallan Cask Strength last weekend.Holy Jeezuz Mary n Joseph! This stuff is unreal. The flavour is awesome and almost too much.I know i said that "neat" is the only way to go,but just tiny splash of h2o is needed to tame this beast.
A not-so-close acquaintance unfortunately finished the last drops of this elixir of the gods. If you guys are into more peaty scotch - but not to the level of Laphroaig - this is the bottle ye shall seek. I've never seen it on the North American side, and had the incredible fortune to be paid to go to England a few years back (when I acquired most of the "special bottles" too). My favourite place to shop, if you're ever in London UK is called the Royal Mile Whiskeys Shop. The also sell online, but shipping to here truly kills.
Mind you, if anyone would like to sign up with me for a group buy from them, I will happily organize the whole order list - and top it off with at least one of these bottles!
PS: in case you can't make out the label: Bunnahabhain 1978 Signatory Edition

We should start a parallel discussion on the merits of a good cigar - and some suggestions for good places to find treasures like that... There used to be an amazing cigar store (with a "private" basement cigar lounge) on Avenue Road, north of Lawrence on the west side - can't recall the name - where the owner started a "semi-private club" made up of patrons who bought cigars and pipe tobacco (another vice of mine) and smoked them in the basement. He provided FREE scotch to the attendees, it was an incredible place... till someone ratted him out, and the province shut him down for illegally distributing liquor on the premises without a permit.Nothing like a good bottle of scotch with a nice Macanudo cigar
