Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Quote : "And 8 years later? You still have not pulled the trigger, just for the record."

If you go back to post 2 you will see I was favoring hybrids and said Tesla was the only Electric car worth buying.

Fast forward, years later you will see that hybrids are where its at, and Tesla is the only one that make a market worthy product.

"If" I were in the market for electric Tesla would be it, but I still think today hybrids are the way to go.

I wouldnt buy an older Volt. batteries are due for replacement soon $$$$ and I dont trust GM engineering on first gen products.

The Bolt actually looks quite promising, despite its stupid price tag, I believe there are govt grants in the $10 to 15k range last I heard, but haven't really looked into it and the limited range is a disappointment.

Electric cars are here to stay, but apart from Tesla, I still think they are in their infancy with their limited range and high price tags.

If I were in the market for an "electric" type car, which I will be soon, I'd go HYBRID! (2017 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid.. 26mpg City for a huge azz 3 row SUV is great!!)

What Hybrid did you end up buying?

well, as much as i want to bug you that is a great car.

i prefer the OG one though, but the prices have gone bonkers. friend has a clean turbo'd '91 with 35,000 kms on it, he gets offered 100k everywhere he goes and he laughs at them.

What post number was it where someone was yelling about Hydrogen cars clearly being the future?

Can't find it now. Probably scrubbed from Google. Pic in a blog of a Mirai covered in dust abandoned at a shuttered hydrogen filling station.

Looks like the one hydrogen fueling station that was in Toronto years ago is gone. There's a cureent article of another coming by end of March this year at Pearson. Let's see what comes of that.

Straight up dumpster fire of tax dollars. To be used solely for filling on-airport vehicles. Completely eliminating all ground vehicle emissions would have a negligible effect on emissions within the airport boundaries.

Which is uneconomical/useless unless you live in Miss./Brampton/Malton or commute near it. The only other option is some sort of Mr. Hydrogen® contraption in your garage (don't tell your insurance provider).

From the Bolt facebook group ... (owner of this vehicle has since crossed 500,000 km) https://www.guideautoweb.com/articl...sEy8LZ416PvnUqpsSOWDfKO72amF5CL9Uxqz2meLQ3knk

And ... I have a fault to report on my Bolt. The USB-C port has gone intermittent. I just today confirmed that the USB cable and phone work properly when plugged into something else.

edit: update: Cable needed to be unplugged and plugged back in again. I think the car is fine, the cable is worn out from having been unplugged and plugged back in too many times.

And it would be smarter to simply change over to straight electric. None of the ground equipment at Pearson drives very far.

I think I know which one you are talking about - IIRC a dealer in Ohio bought one and had it shipped there, not realising that there was no way to fill it up.

Here's another one:

What post number was it where someone was yelling about Hydrogen cars clearly being the future? Because I'm pretty sure this happened early on in this thread....in 2017.

"I believe in Hydrogen tech. The US is slow to adapt, its far more popular in Europe.

As I stated far earlier in this thread, I honestly don't think Hydrogen cars will be on the radar until at least 2030 before it gets taken in seriously around here. But I believe it will. If not for cars, for big rigs, buses and such.

Frankly, I'm amazed that electric cars have taken this long to get where we are today from when this thread was started 4 years ago."

I still stand behind everything i said. Hydrogen is gaining traction in Europe.

toyota, bmw, honda, gm and more.

as usual, the US is clueless.

btw we have a hydrogen cr v coming soon.
