Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

My 2018 didn't have the little 'toot toot' horn for pedestrians. I spent days looking for it...turns out they removed it from Gen 1 to Gen 2.

Indeed they did, replaced with the whoosh noise maker instead.

Fun fact, on the 2011 model years you had to flash the highbeams to get the pedestrian horn to activate which was problematic in other ways as oncoming vehicles would take it as an indication to turn in front of you and that sort of thing- on 2012 through 2015 they added a button to the end of the signal stalk instead.

They pointed out another fail, by using the edge of the door to peel a carrot before using the powered trunk closure to chop the carrot. And then they used the sharp rear corner of the powered trunk to chop a hole in an aluminium can.

Ouch.

The rest of the automotive world figured out long ago how to do all those edges anx corners with a radius

I wonder if Canada is going to go the same route as the US...I'm seeing some drops in used EV pricing, but nothing compared to the US...

Bigger percentage of people buying here, especially in BC and Quebec, so little incentive to lower prices when they're still selling well in many places.

Unbelievable that they still can't build a vehicle that doesn't break in the dumbest and most ridiculous ways. Suspension parts breaking and falling off is all too common across Tesla - hell, in the 90's I owned a Chevy Tracker that I beat all to hell in the Raglan Pits many times, including having it airborne more than a few times, and that thing just took the beating and never even blinked.

I'm going to have to give Tesla a pass on this one. Doesn't look like normal usage, and I'm sure plenty of ICE 'trucks' go offroad where they shouldn't.

Just cause it failed, doesn't mean it's the car's fault...I did also read through that thread that a different suspension was put on to 'test it' but who knows where reality is.

If I take my GTI off to the track and blow something...is it the car's fault? Or mine for taking it onto a track where it had no business in being?

a) ANY pickup should be able to do a couple of donuts on flat loose dirt without breaking.

b) Tesla MARKETS it as off-road capable, not a mall-crawler.

While I agree with both your points, marketing is a hell of a wonderful thing.

And unfortunately the reality hits hard at times.

As I said, I read that the suspension was replaced with a different one for that off-road adventure...if that's true or not, I'm not sure.

While I'm no fan of Tesla...I also will take a very cautious approach with anything online posted as a lot of times there's a story behind it.

And what exactly is 'off road capable'? Dirt road? Rock climbing? Gravel lane?

Where's the story that it had suspension modifications? Can't imagine anything is even commercially available yet.

There’s references to ‘Unplugged Performance’ doing testing and trying to break things.

I know many here have a hard on for hating Tesla, but let’s not pretend there isn’t some bias in that hatred.

sorry, had to laugh.

Tesla gets poo poo-ed on here constantly, yet this guy gets almost 2 million views in 6 days!

On a car that's been largely unchanged since it was introduced in 2017 (7 years old is OLD in car years) Impressive return on investment for Elon!

Nobody cares about Tesla eh?

(still the only Electric car I would buy today)

He gets 2 million views because he's one of the most popular Youtube content creators to date. (sure its a spinoff from his main page). He covers tech, people interested in tech watch his stuff, Tesla is...tech.

And 8 years later? You still have not pulled the trigger, just for the record.

All a fad. As most Fads this to will pass. Once the government money dries up

If you go back to post 2 you will see I was favoring hybrids and said Tesla was the only Electric car worth buying.

Fast forward, years later you will see that hybrids are where its at (a narrative many automakers including GM are leaning towards now), and Tesla is the only one that make a market worthy product.

"If" I were in the market for electric Tesla would be it,
but I still think today hybrids are the way to go.

It's a shame gm didn't read the market accurately and tried to shove EVs down our throat. If they had stuck with hybrids instead they would be sitting pretty today.

Clueless...
