Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The stock is down literally in excess of 50% since 2021, meanwhile in the reality distortion field, there's this guy.

The announcement of a magical $25K new car yesterday was met with well deserved skepticism given Musks track record of promises vs actual outcomes. See: Cybertruck, Tela Semi, the claimed $35K Model 3, "Full self driving" that was supposed to be around in 2017, 1 Million fully autonomous robotaxis by 2020, etc etc etc etc etc.

This post is worthless without Hyperloop.

Wasn't that part of the Boring company? I don't know, I've lost track of all the Musk crazy ideas that went absolutely nowhere except setting dumpsters full of money on fire.
That was one of the dumbest ideas he had...literally served no purpose except make a ton of promises to different cities and not even attempt to deliver anything.

I know a couple people that work at the Boring company...and I'm surprised such smart people bought into the bullcrap.

What does Baron forecast for Neuralink?

Oh, wait. Fresh shenanigans.

Locking diff "coming soon"?

Is it mechanically in place, but the software does not have it enabled yet? That's a fail.
Does it not exist mechanically? Are they going to retrofit it afterward by dismantling and re-assembling the drive units? Fail.

I wonder if it is a virtual lock using brakes and motors and they haven't got the programming down yet.

The video of the Cybertruck failing to get up a gravel hill and which had the suspension severely cross-loaded, visibly showed it locking up the front right wheel which was up in the air. That suggests the electronic-diff-lock functionality is already there. EDL isn't fully a substitute for an actual limited-slip diff or locker, though.

Some class 8 tractors have a "virtual" diff lock where the traction control system tries it's best to distribute torque and prevent wheelspin.

Trust me, it's a poor excuse for an actual honest to goodness real difflock. The problem is, in the wrong hands, you can really bork up your vehicle in a hurrry.

$76M and 6 years gone in a puff of smoke…

Peanuts.

The Feds have spent more than $50b on battery plant subsidies alone, never mind vehicle subsidies, charging network subsidies and the purchase ov gov EVs.

Pretty big numbers considering the whole Canadian auto industry generated $16b than gdp last year.

Did any of this achieve the goal of keeping our riding season from becoming painfully long?

you know the old adage.... "buy low, sell high"

with the recent earnings miss, nows your chance to stock up (pun intended)

investers still consider Tesla an "outperform" stock.

you're welcome....

He is a fund manager that spent his carrier at Daddy's company... and has most of the fund he manages in those stocks.
Not to say he's right or wrong.. just that you have to look into the source before accepting the info.

And for everyone praising them, there is one saying they have no idea where the bottom is. I ignore most of their opinions as they all have vested interests. I have no money in tesla and I don't see that changing anytime soon. That means I missed out on huge gains. I'm ok with that. Imo, TSLA is gambling not investing.

I can assure you it's not the big 3 that keeps Elon up at night. They are already clueless as you can see.

It's the Chinese EV makers that is the biggest threat.

I don't invest much of my time into cars I can't buy here, and I'm not fully sure why they haven't arrived yet, but when they do, from what little I have seen and read, they seem mighty impressive and I say "watch out"

Look at the Polestar, and other emerging brands....

That's 1 post I actually do agree on. I'm not sure we'll ever let the Chinese EV's into North America though without crazy high tariffs so as to make them more expensive than the rest.

As an aside, my Polestar 2 woke up on Sun morning to 390 km at 90% state of charge ... that's 433 km if went to 100%. (y)(y)
