Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

from your quote

:coffee:
No doubt it’s a lot of money to replace the battery when it invariably fails.

I don’t plan on keeping my car that long, but I’m not naive enough to think that EVs are the end all be all to save the environment.

I’d say it’s more a ‘feel good’ marketing that went incredibly well.

Pay up front to not pay gas long term. Majority won’t check the math.

It's unlikely the battery will ever be completely trashed as there is a developing secondary market for home batteries and other uses. 8 years to 80% under warranty ....so what even if it drops to 50% and if you don't charge it past 80% the battery life is indefinitely long.....more fear mongering from knuckledraggers.

By the time you want to extend the range ( which Leaf vehicles can do now ) .....battery tech will be far far forward.

The biggest lever for reducing carbon is land use.

Isnt he missing the fun letters? I thought it had to have performance in the name to haul ass. The base powertrain beats all normal cars but can be taken by performance cars.

haven't pulled up next to anything else yet. I would def get taken by some faster cars but most likely only if they were in launch control.
few of cars listed technically would beat mine on paper.

a few of them even got the jump as I didn't know we were racing but I just need to put my foot down and instantly catch up.
As evo said the awd and better traction helps as well.

Thanks. I was thinking that the normal 3 was in the fives and the performance was in the low fours. I was very wrong.
the real question is, was the test done on factory rubber? I'm assuming the LR gets some trashy all season stuff up here @killvino ? Throw on some summer performance and you`re going to certainly be smashing peeps.

not sure how anybody can take a company with the name VinFast seriously.....
They are also going with a strange business model. Vehicle is apparently about 10k cheaper than competitors but you have to rent the battery for 139 or 199/mo depending on model. I dont like that for lots of reasons but it does eliminate the stupid argument about the price of pack replacement as that isnt a direct cost to owner (instead you pay thousands a year to avoid paying thousands a decade).

yes its got some really crap all seasons for range/efficiency. don't think it matters as much for launches however. the TC with AWD works really well that I barely get a chirp.
cornering and braking performance though.... (mostly due to the weight)

I bought a 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV. (plugged in, charging)
nice! for most people out there, the Bolt EV is all you need. Let us know how it is after you get acquainted

I drove it 126 km yesterday. Came home with about 3/4 charge left. Instruments say current consumption is 13.7 kWh/100 km, mixed conditions but no high speeds (Toronto...), air-con set to a comfortable 22 C inside.
Did the old car die or was it just time to move on from dino squeezings?

Congrats. Any deals like GM in the USA are giving out?

Unfortunately not. We didn't get the big MSRP drop that the US got for 2023. But the trim levels aren't the same. The US has two trim levels for the EV, we just have one that's in between. Has power multi-adjustable driver's seat, has heated seats and steering wheel, but not leather. Works for me.

No, it was still running well, but it was time to move on. Frost GM has the Fiat now. Cabrio, loaded but manual transmission 237k, needs a right rear wheel bearing $100ish and easy to replace, rear parking sensors stopped working couple months ago (don't need), left front DRL doesn't work (I just left all the lights on all the time). No rust. If someone from here buys it and gets in touch, I have a set of winter tires on the stock alloy wheels for you.

So, do you have a plan for where you are going to spend the $35,000 you saved?

First longish trip. One of my criteria was that the car had to be able to make it to my sister's place (Lindsay) and back. The Bolt did that easily (I just got home). Right now, from the energy consumption screen - "since last full charge" (yesterday) ... Used 34.9 kWh (out of 64 available), drove 291.7 km, consumption 12.0 kWh/100 km. Obviously the weather helps, used nothing on HVAC. Still, there's a lot of wiggle room.

This was via the northern-bypass country-roads route that I usually take, King Road, Bloomington, through Port Perry. I know it's going to have higher consumption (and shorter range) on motorways.
