Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Haha. Toronto has solved all your charging woes. They plan to add 3000 on-street chargers within the City before 2025. Pilot started in 2017. Currently they have installed 9 on-street and 8 in Green P lots. No worries for city-folk to find an easily accessible charging point near their house now. /s

Good luck with that....we are nowhere near mass adoption or availability of charging on the streets.

Bolt may be dead. Not unexpected. Go with Ultium at similar price point.

long over due, they should have cut their losses a LONG Time ago and declared it dead to no further sully their reputation.

If their Ultium project is a bust, expect the graveyard to grow....

I see one of the big US brokerage firms downgraded GM stock mentioning their EV approach - it's taken a bit of a hit.

Coming up on the 5 year anniversary of this thread. Wow.

Anyone interested in redoing the cost calculations in the realities of $1.50-$1.60/L (and sounds like higher this summer) gas? ;)

I miss my WRX every time I turn on the Volt….until it’s time to fill up.

Premium at $1.7-1.8/L … no thanks.

Happy anniversary er'yone! I just filled up for the first time since a Christmas drive (thanks ERDTT) and one thing I really love about the Volt is the shock that comes from looking at the gas pump every time I have to fill up. Seems prices jump fifteen-to-twenty cents every fill up. Not paying any attention to gas prices is a real plus to EV ownership.

Yeah, the sustained cold temps and resulting ERDTT this year have caused me to have to fill up at least twice since October. Still got half my second tank though. 😉

The Green party released their EV platform. Obviously only applicable if they get elected and form government so it's a literal waste of resources to prepare and distribute. The world would have been better off if they hadn't bothered. $10K off EV's and low interest rate loans (govt backed?).

@PrivatePilot with Douggie trying to get ultra cheap overnight electric rates going, you may be able to use arbitrage to make your ownership even cheaper. Charge the EV when really cheap and use the EV to power the house when rates are high. If you install a conventional battery in your house, this is specifically not allowed (it would be far too easy and govt would lose lots of money) but it would be a lot harder to block an EV from doing it. Automatic transfer switch on a timer? If no car is connected, it doesn't flip, if a car is connected, when peak rates hit it automatically flips to the battery. Seems like a project that would be easy enough for someone to implement an easy control solution (Eg RPi or Arduino that knows ToU rates, battery state of charge, house load, etc and sets things up with a decision matrix). Would be easy enough to have and app or button that flips you to grid (or keeps your there) if you need your car full.

with Douggie trying to get ultra cheap overnight electric rates going,

Haven’t heard of this.

Not sure he’s going to be around come then next election to put anything like this into effect anyways.

Douggie may still be least worst. Del Duca is part of the most corrupt team that has run the province in my lifetime, Horvath is whiney with no connection to reality and Green doesn't have a chance.
