5k limit....what would YOU get?

Warmer weather is coming and I’m getting the itch again. Wife is on board but I went slightly over budget on the car so now holding back. But time to start looking.

have enjoyed the CB500F a lot

I didn’t like the Rebel 500 but maybe I didn’t give it a fair shake.

bikes that continue to interest me are:
- CB500X
- MT07
- Shadow RS
- Sportster 883
- CB650R(?)
- Ninja 650
- Kawasaki Vulcan S

no matter how I look at it even though I’d like something capable of going and doing some mild off reading, I just don’t think it’s gonna happen. No one to go with, and not much near here. Cottage is a stone throw away from Simcoe County Forests around Elmvale.
@Trials did you read his first post?
Kinda hard not to I quoted his first post.

Like MimicoPolak I'm always intriguiged by the 883 sporty. The only HD that I would want (except for the useless peanut tank).
Indian scout bobber!!!
If I never left the city this is what I’d rock.

ifiddles I'm surprised you found the FZ6 tall. I had one and found it fine. AND I'm a little challenged in the height department. Seat was brick though.

A new KLX250 is on the list for spring along with something for 2up touring to replace the OldWing.

This type intrigues me...

But still not convinced I want to try the cruiser route. Although for my current needs (no long trips planned for a long time) it may fit the bill for city cruising.

Love the bike, could never justify the price for a toy.

Aha! We’ve discovered the issue.
I consider my bike therapy, not a toy. When I commute on it I forget all about what a **** day I had, because I’m too busy making sure I don’t die.

Cheaper then a therapist. You need to reconsider what it’s use is and you’ll justify the budget bump.

If i were in your shoes i wouldnt go back to another 500 (although i LOVE MINE when i'll change...i'll get something else)

I'd probably go MT-07 and get some 80/20 tires on there for your offroading

We're on different sides of the 883 MimicoPolak. Mine would have flat bars and no spot for a pillion.

Haha I prefer the flat bars and I’d remove the pillion. After the kids wife won’t get on the bike with me. Maybe around the block.

So much want

I'd have the only one on the block like it
cheap for insurance too.

Anything you own is by definition the only thing on the block like it (unless you own more than one).
You'd have a ***** of a time finding another Harley-Chainsaw
lol and you would need to be into self abuse.

Buddy had a Thruxton years ago. Beautiful bike but said it was horribly uncomfortable on anything over an hour.

yeah, gorgeous, but those clipons dont look comfortable

I assume we're talking about the air cooled 865cc bikes. Early models had clip-ons, 2004-2008 or so. 2009-2016 models have a higher tubular bar (and fuel injection). Not the least bit uncomfortable. I can ride mine all day long. Inexpensive, reliable, easy to work on, huge aftermarket.

Consider also a Bonneville or Scrambler.
