2011 Kawi Ninja 400R - It's Here...

Why couldn't this thing be a naked bike? We need more nudity damnit!

Haven't looked into the engine specs yet, anyone know offhand if maybe this is easily converted or bored out to something bigger with a kit? (think Sportster 883 --> 1200)
Or are we looking at a completely new engine?

The 400cc bike I'd be really interested would be

Sub 300lbs
20,000rpm 4 cyl
Chassis about the size of a 250R

Or for some REAL fun, Get BRP to whip up some 400cc E-Tec direct injection 2 strokes twins.

Now put that in a Moriwaki MD250H chassis and look out baby..

Now you're talking! I would be all over something like that... unfortunately it seems less and less likely, especially the 2 smoker :(

Ducati Monster 400 in... Buffalove?

Much nicer look.

Interesting, didn't know they had them with 400cc engine. Unfortunately it suffers from the same problem. It's lighter than Ninja400R (more like 250R ... go figure), but Monster 400 and 600 weigh virtually the same, the second having almost 20HPs advantage. Again if you take insurance out of it, it doesn't make that much sense.

Adri this is just what i heard on a chat, it's a sleeved 650 engine with adapted gearing... i don't know anything but i suspect you could buy the pistons and rings and turn it into a 650... i know i make it sound simple but i'm sure there's more to it than just that. and i'm sure the parts and such to convert it back to a 650 probably cost as much as the 650 but the insurance savings.....

Ducati actually tried to deliver a marketing campaign specifically trying to appease Flashmonkey and his desire for more nudity. ;) There's no wonder why it only worked in Europe and Japan.

Your 500 is living a very happy life with me

...23,000 km and counting...

Oh wow - sounds like you've piled on the mileage...I've often wondered who on the board has it...glad to read it's going strong and obviously in good hands.:)

I own one of these 2011 Ninja 400r's. Beauty of a bike. Shes my first street bike. The only problem I am having is insurance for a 16yr old g1m1 driver.

Pics man! PICS!

Did you check out that crazy flow chart in the insurance section?

Get ready for a $4,000 quote from facility.

Should've just got a 650R for those insurance rates. Cost almost the same anyway.

Isn't he what the 400R was targeted towards? New riders that need cheap insurance? No other point in getting it since it's just a lower CC 650R. Even costs almost the same.

Somewhat, but 16 years old with g1/m1? I was 19 w/ GM2 and had a quote for $3500 from facility (cheapest I could find at the time) for a CBR125. No, I did not ride that year, just waited a year and I'm sittin here with a rate of approx $1900.

Also I think Mississauga rates are higher than Richmond Hill

I got a couple quotes for 3900 and 4000. I was prepared for it though I saved up a lot for insurance. Originally I was going to buy the 250 but then my buddy was selling his 400r so I jumped at the chance.2011 kawasaki ninja 400r at pond street in front of driveway.jpg2011 kawasaki ninja 400r (12).jpg

Sexy bike! That muffler is whacked, plan on keeping it stock or tormenting the neighbourhood with a new one?! :)
