2003-2009ish CBR600RR and YZF-R6 Owners show yourselves!

I own a 2008 CBR and a 2009 R6. I've also had toysareforboys flash my R6 ECU (thanks again). Long story short, buy the CBR for all the reasons already mentioned. Much better street bike because it :

- is much more comfortable
- has a better spread of torque where you'd likely be using it (below 12K)
- starts much better, cold or warm temps.. just perfectly, like God and Mr. Honda intended

The R6 has an awesome rush of power... once you cross 12K, and it turns very quickly, and has better brakes, the slipper clutch works reasonably well, and the bike looks gorgeous. But I would never consider riding it anywhere other than the track, especially as I use my bike to commute from home (Markham/Stouffville) to downtown Toronto, and I'm often stuck in a bit of traffic.

My 2 cents. I'm sure either bike will put a smile on your face.

Thanks for the info!

Thanks Jamie, but I'm already running -1/+2 on the R6 and it works like a charm. I'm running stock gearing on the CBR, and it still feels like a beast compared to the R6 anywhere below the screaming redline.
Good stuff, just checking. Maybe it's time for -2 in the front ;)

Yeah, people that ride them back to back always say the 06+ R6 blows goats down low, compared to anything else, Kawi, gixxer, CBR.

So I just got home from the dealer. Long story short I was going used gsxr but it looks now like I'm going with a new one. That said, omg the r6 is horrid just to sit on. I couldn't imagine driving one for more than an hour. Looks wise it is killer but I checked out the cbr's while I was there too and the smart money says you could ride that thing all day long. Just my $0.02

Yep. Glad I checked it out but I knew you all would be right. Gorgeous looking bikes for sure but I couldn't handle an r6 as a daily. Even the r1 fit me better than the 6. If I was looking for a cbr though I'd be trying to find a dealer with a new 2012 because the front of the 2013 = :puke:

the 2012's are sold out... i tried to get one on the 2013 clearance price.

Well thanks everyone for your input! I sat on a couple CBRs and R6's. I did find the R6 a little more agressive than the CBR not unbearable though, but I wasn't riding. I ended up going with a CBR for those interested, should be picking up early next week.

An what was the deciding factor?

Not sure if I will track my own bike, might look into taking a couple day/weekend course things as I don't have any track experience but definitely want some.

This Intro to Track course is for noobs, on your own bike. If you want to use their bikes check out Racer 5, you get to run CBR125's around the track :)

I had saw the racer 5 days earlier but I'll have to checkout this other intro to track event

I took it, it was awesome. I liked learning on my own equipment. No pressure, were total noobs there, only students on the track, in groups by skill/courage ;)

I highly recommend it.

If you ride the street like a track all of the R6 bottom-end inadequacies are a non-issue, just sayin.

aka

Play the "street piano".

Woot woot. Keep it over 11k and it's golden :)

OMG can't wait for the ride today!!! Hopefully I log lots of good autotune data :D
