Macdocs Lament ••• Forks - same old same old, maybe a bit better.

Heal well MacDoc. I take it you remain in hospital. How long until you get released? I guess there are many bike collisions that are not worthy of a news report because I don't recall hearing of that many recently where the riders required hospitalization.

Macdocs Lament ••• Forks - same old same old, maybe a bit better.

The "squeeze" has been in effect on Hockley for the past several years. Apparently one of the locals was able to convince Mono area councillors that the speed limit on the Hockley Road approaches to Airport Road should be reduced to 50 kph. I don't recall hearing about a sudden rash of...

Macdocs Lament ••• Forks - same old same old, maybe a bit better.

It had been years since I've driven or ridden on Mississauga Road south of Belfountain. On a recent ride through the area I was surprised at the number of new traffic signals that have been installed. However, the one at Olde Base Line Road wasn't a compete surprise because of the poor...

    Do the numbers count?

Almost doesn't count, sadly that's just a daily occurrence. How often has someone made an illegal / stupid move that required you to take evasive action to avoid a collision? With the quality of drivers in this Province, it should come as no surprise. If you can avoid a collision using defensive...

The Grange Sideroad - Closed Sections

I don't typically come that far south. It's on my shorter 1.5 hour loop that takes in The Forks once a year. I'll now wait until the fall to try it again. CR 9 is more fun anyway, oh and by the way the bridge just west of Dunedin is being reconstructed so there is a traffic signal alternating...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

I worked for the TTC back then and can advise that there were many reasons for this work. There was a public meeting held by City staff to communicate the changes to the interchange that were associated with this work. The changes began because the stairs down from The Kingsway to the car stops...

The Grange Sideroad - Closed Sections

Went out for a ride on Wednesday and found two sections of The Grange Sideroad are closed for construction until September. I wasn't aware, so I'm letting others know that The Grange Sideroad is not an option between Caledon and Highway 10 for the rest of the summer. The Grange Sideroad is...

Terrible ramp design; not sure why it wasn't closed years ago. You can't see northbound traffic if you stop at the stop bar and if you pull out far enough to see, you are blocking the pedestrian crossing and risking being clipped by northbound traffic, which is usually speeding.

    Motorcycle Tires

Wow, $20 per wheel carried in! I just paid $60 per wheel carried in at the shop I used in Caledon. Oh well, I'll make note of Mikeymoto for future use. I definitely recommend Pete's for tires. I ordered a pair of tires from him in late April and they were delivered within two days. Great...

What did you do in your garage today..?

I installed replacement (used) front calipers on the ST and bled the front and rear brakes. Last month when I removed the wheels to replace the tires, I checked the brakes and noticed the front pads were worn past the point where they should have been replaced. Normally it's an easy job; all...

CAN-AM Demo day Sat June 3 @ Two Wheel Motorsport Guelph

I've been curious about these machines for a few years now. Two of my friends own them and one of them is on his second one. I've signed up for the demo to see if they are anything to consider in the future. Thanks for the link.

If my helmet was stolen ...

Same here. The good thing is when it's closed there is no way to know if there's anything in it, so most thieves will just walk on by. However, one time after locking my helmet in the trunk I return and find the trunk lock is broken and I can't open it to get my helmet. No matter how much I...

How do you leave the scene of an accident and not provide insurance information? I was told opening a door into traffic was an automatic charge of obstructing traffic, or fail to yield. Then, causing an accident with injuries and just leaving, well that adds leaving the scene as well. Maybe...

How much do you pay for insurance?

Well I have a slightly different angle here. Back in 2021 I cancelled my insurance when I received a renewal quote of nearly $1000 for the year. I had received a 15km over speeding ticket the previous fall in my car and was apparently now the least wanted insurance customer in that company's...

    Advice on purchasing new tires?

I just ordered a pair of Bridgestone Battlax T32s for my ST1100, (110/80 and 160/70). I've found these tires to be a great choice for my heavy Honda and this will be my fourth set. I also recommend Pete's! His prices were very competitive and the service was fast. I placed the order last Monday...

    Spring motorcycle show

I haven't been to a bike show since about 2018 and I've never been to the Auto Show. These shows have priced themselves beyond what I consider to be a reasonable value and, as you mention, I don't have to go. I seriously doubt there are enough people who are as frugal as me, so these shows are...

    Spring motorcycle show

I bought my tickets online a few weeks before the show and I think there was a seniors rate applied. Perhaps the bike shows should consider a similar discount, but with so many older riders, I guess that would cut into the profits. The swap was much larger than "50 pairs of skis a store...

    Spring motorcycle show

Not my problem. If the rent is so high how did the Ski Show, also held at the International Centre, manage to operate and only charge $10 last fall? The thing that gets me is that both the vendors and the public are paying the promoter who is operating the "show". The promoter then pays to...
