I've done it with my last two bikes. Got insurance and temp sticker and rode them home. One before that the guy left his plate on and asked me to mail it back to him. His comment was - what's the worst you're going to do? Take the 407?
I just use whatever I find on clearance at outdoor stores, MEC/Sail etc. Been using a Marmot jacket and Northface pants for the last few years without fail.
Apex on Preston Parkway in Cambridge is a great shop an local to you - they had quite a bit of Klim gear last time I was in there. There is also a place on King st called Kehler's western wear that reportedly has some MC jackets - although I have never been in there.

I've tried it as well as and alternative to Motul Motowash and they both work well enough but are not miracle products. Pretty sure it was Apex in Cambridge who recommended it.
Not much to add other than both of these shops are fantastic, as are Two Wheel and Oakville Yamaha for "real life" shopping. Online, Fortnine and Motorstarz are good, i've also ordered stuff from 613 Motorsports with great prices and service.
