Get the 750, perfect street bike.
Some minor mods and you have a nice machine.
Ditch the stock can and perhaps use a Ti slip on to save weight.
Enjoy!

750=much cheaper insurance

depends..... do you want one of the fastest litre bikes ever made?? Or do you want a run of the mill gsxr? of course the gsxr is way more tame the zx10 you speak of, but the amount of fun to be had on that zx10 is insane. Also, the gsxr will be more comfortable as well as that year 10 was a torture rack, but you will be owning a beast so its worth it.

Both are awesome. The GSXR looks better, is a great streetbike (excellent power and comfy for a SS), and is a bit better on insurance. The ZX looks a bit dated imo but it's got a killer powerband with a ton of midrange.
I'd say get the GSXR. All the power most people could want, it's light, looks great, is comfy for all-day riding, super reliable, parts are easy to find and are cheap.

I rode from Vancouver to Burlington in 3.5 days on my 04 zx10r, I wouldnt say its uncomfortable...If you want comfort dont get a SS. Both are awesome bikes, the 750 will be better on insurance but the zx10r is a monster...not sure what your riding experience is like but the zx10r has no forgiveness.

If you do go with the 10r the only mod you really need is a steering damper.

Id say the 750. I have an 05 and my girl has an 09 and we both love them and have no complaints. It's the perfect combination of power and agility.

The 750 is a great compromise bike that does lots of things fairly well.

The 1st gen ZX10R is angry, and it does angry very well. It should, however, never be ridden without a steering damper.

You are going to get alot of biased opinions based on what people own. The 750 is fine and much more manageable, now if you like tons of power and wheelies and are good at controlling them get the ZX10, otherwise it will scare you off. I dont see how a gsxr with all those stickers looks better than a zx10 either, the comfort and insurance isnt really an issue.

The 750 is not a run of the mill GSXR, not that many 750's out there. I would dare to ask anyone to tell me what they can do on a zx10 that they can not do on a 750 on the street? except for maybe accelerating from 0 to 100 a bit faster.

As you can see from my handle name, I have always been a kawi guy but can not go wrong with the 750 hence why I have one

If you haven't ever ridden the 04 or 05 ZX10R you can't really get a feel for how angry it really is.

It likes to wheelie... a lot. Surprise wheelies are not uncommon. It is not as well behaved as the gsxr but if a rider has the skill to negotiate with the 10R it can be lots of fun.

There may not be many 750's out there, but it doesnt matter as they look almost identical to the 600's. I am biased though and would never own a gixxer even if they are good, I want something that isnt every second sportbike out there.
With the zx-10 you will be one of very few out there riding around that year 10. Also like caboose said, if you have never ridden that 10 then you have no idea! It is a monster!!! like monster!! hello wheelies... hello super light... hello looks great! There really is no comparison between those bikes, it would just be preference and how much insurance you want to spend.

The 750 is a really great bike. Very fast on any Canadian track, too. The 05 ZX10R is as has been said... a monster. It's barely controllable at times with its short wheelbase and wicked street motor with the power right where you want it for being a loon on the street. My friend Dave has had four ZX10rs and the 05 is the only one that he felt actually unsafe on... sold it and got an 08 to match the one that he wadded into a ball one afternoon.

In a sense these two bikes are polar opposites: the ZX10R is all about barely having control, where the 750 is all about having precision control.

Well put

I am surprised to see that a difference of 9HP can make such a difference in experience - According to the internetssss the 750 is 153HP and the 10r is 162 on the crank.

I am guessing power band?

Check with your insurance company. Mid 2000s ZX10Rs are the most crashed bikes ever. Stupid power for the street and frankly, an unsafe and irresponsible design.

Not only does motorcycle class influence driver death rates but it also has a major bearing on insurance losses. Supersport motorcycles had the highest overall collision coverage losses among 2002-06 model bikes, almost 4 times higher than losses for touring motorcycles and more than 6 times higher than cruisers, a HLDI analysis reveals. Nine of the 10 motorcycles with the highest losses were supersports. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, a 1,000 cc supersport, topped the worst list, with collision losses more than 9 times the average. Five of the 10 motorcycles with the highest overall losses had engine displacements of 1,000 cc or larger.

I've heard road racers say the ZX10R was unridable at speed.

The newer Zx10s are completely different, have ohlins steering dampers, a much better frame and swingarm, and traction control, this was likely the result of lawsuits. This bike has had historical issues with major recalls as well. Avoid.

No, typical Kawasaki issues, too much power for the frame and suspension.

get the one you think looks better. Really, none of the performance differences are going to matter to you once you're in the saddle - not unless you're tracking and timing.

You'll never want to get on and ride if she's ugly.
