your reason for picking the bike you are riding now...

Got a great deal on a bike I know was in great shape.
Had ridden it before when it was the previous owner's and it was a fun ride.
Good on insurance while I wait for 2 of 3 tickets to come off my license (one this month and the next in October).

Always loved bikes but more so the SS bikes. I love my gixxer 6 and am glad I went with it as my first road bike. And the fact that I got a good deal on it as well. NOT good on insurance though at my age for a first bike haha

My first bike was a 1982 GS400e. I did like it, but it was too heavy, for me, and I wasn't totally flat-footed. As soon as I sat on my current bike, CBR125, it just felt right. It certainly isn't the type of motorcycle I saw myself riding, but for now I'm happy with it.

It was fate.

I loved my zzr but found that it aggravated an old shoulder injury. I also loved running it up to the redline a little too often. The street triple is similar in its specs but doesn't hurt my shoulder and the lack of a windscreen tends to make me think I'm going really fast :confused1:

Gave up supersports, switched on to nakeds. Don't see myself ever going back to a supersport bike.

Mostly comfort issues.

First time rider. I picked up a CBR 125 so i can properly learn to ride!

A month in and I can feel its vastly underpowered compared to everything else but I'm more of a technical rider. I want to make sure I earn my next set of wheels for skill and not just for speed.

Besides - I'm totally not afraid to open up this cheap little thing and learn the mechanics :)

Strom 650 owner here, too.

My reasons:

Cheap to buy, run and insure. Dead reliable. Handles well. Great mileage/range (450k+). Rated to carry 440 lbs of gear (more than most touring bikes). Comfortable riding position. ABS. Powerful headlights. Smooth, punchy motor. Too ugly to steal (I hope).

The Wing was bought to replace a BMW tourer i had for 12 years.I was tired of the stupid price of german parts and lousy dealer network.
The Hypermotard replaced a SS Ducati that was really hard on my arthritic wrists.
The Muffin went into the garage because i realized it's stupid to try and use the same bike for street and track. And because it was set up completely for the track. It's a retired racebike.

Bought my 650R because:
- Wanted enough power for the highway and for 2-upping on the highway since my gf doesn't even drive. Although she won't ride on the bike with me now anyway. lol
- Cheaper to insure than an SS (depending on where you go anyway).
- Gets slightly better fuel economy than most SS.
- Little more comfortable than an SS even with sport bars.
- Little more unique than all the run of the mill sport bikes you see around and less common than an SV650.
- Wanted some low end torque which is much friendlier in traffic and more fun for acceleration up to legal speeds.

Didn't want to get revved on anymore...

Price point for what I got. (brembos, nice fit an finish, good looks IMO)
The bike 'fit' me, it wasn't too big, too small, or too heavy. No need to 'lower' the bike.
Easy maintenance.
Good for commuting or long rides for me.
I love my bike :)
