Yet another shooting in the USA - 2

Yeah. Wow. I understand that these are isolated and rare occurrences, but it feels like things are ramping up these days.

Its "ramping up" because media wants it ramped up.

The US has 310,000,000 people. More than 12,000 people get shot to death there every year. If CNN wanted to, they could run an entire 24hr network just for shootings.

I agree. It also took place where white people work and vacation, so that's news too.
 
And since guns are inevitably the topic of discussion for these threads: New York state has very tight gun laws. You can get a handgun in Canada 10x faster than in NYC.

So 10 people getting shot at outside a major international tourist attraction isn't news worthy?

Look, I get what you're saying, but it's understandable when mass shootings like this make the news.

Sure some are newsworthy, but some are complete *********.... such as a few weeks ago, the headlines all blaring "COLLEGE CAMPUS SHOOTING!!" meanwhile it was some guy NEAR A&M university shooting himself and a cop over an eviction notice. I bet stories like that are an hourly occurance in the US.

Like I said, CNN could run a 24 hour network just for shootings. They're in the advertising business, and sensationalist BS gets you viewers.

...and the other 49 States? Plus the prevailing mentality among many in the US that carrying a gun everywhere is a god given right?

The real problem is the mentality seriously.

No, I agree that newspapers will take every opportunity to sensationalize a story.

But it also doesn't mean that mass shootings are an insignificant either. Conversation shouldn't be swept under the rug or downplayed just because the numbers are already high.

The Dude obviously snapped mentally, he executed his co-worker....double tapped in the head and walked away....The only people responsible for "mass shootings" are the cops...they are the ones who sent the strays and hit the bystanders when the dude decided to commit suicide by cop.

The ultra hot topic right now is guns and gun control....so a guy farts while holding a firearm will be national news....gotta keep the sheeple pointed away from the imploding economy somehow....
