write off!

Okay then what is the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council going to do to the insurance company? Why even bother mentioning the dealer or the ad then, all write offs get sold.

Was my bike ..my deal.. i was asked to show the ad..i have nothing to hide.. and..im sure if you had the same questions or concerns you also would do the same

I bought that bike with a clean title from a dealer. I parted it out. but I could have put a front end on it and sold it as mint. I'm not a dealer.

what does it have to do with omvic or the dealer?

Are you not able to read? The insurance told him it was non repairable.
Bambam, its time for you to **** the insurance company and the dealer like they have been doing to all of us for too long!

Omvic is out there specifically to make people honest ... This bike was not laid down like i was told.. it was smoked by a car. I was told by the insurance 10000 in repairs not 700$

Look if you go to his place of business and he is willing to sell you the bike without making the proper disclosures then yeah by all means call Omvic. He just told you over the phone correct? have you made him a offer? How far into the deal making process are you?

To me laid down= been in an accident so so far so good in my eyes. He does need to tell the next buyer though it has been written off, I would imagine that will be done once someone actually comes to see the bike. If he doesn't then he is in the wrong. Having never seen the bike I don't know if it was just cosmetic or had structural as well, like I said some insurance just don't want the liability of selling the bike back to there customer.

my issue is with the bike having a head on collision...being told that my bike is non repairable while i was on the couch..not seeing it.. and then seeing it for sale. Omvic should be made aware of the fact this bike had front end damage! It hit a car boys and girls.. moving! If it was repairable..should i not of had that option to repair it?

Bambam,

It was likely too expensive for the insurance company to pay for the repairs. Doesn't mean the bike was irrepairable. They were likely quoted the cost of repair and decided to just cut a check. Once you accept the check, the bike is considered the insurance company's and it's up to them what to do with it. The shop probably purchased the bike for peanuts and performed the repairs at cost (instead of market cost) That's up to the shop to decide if it's worth the risk to pour money into the repairs and sell it to make a few bucks.

It's likely only a matter of cost to repair or replace. And they take the cheapest route every time. Doesn't mean the bike was a salvage title bike. If you insisted upon having the bike returned, they may have cut a check for a much less amount to cover the repairs. You still would have been out of pocket.

It wasnt me who called.. I was informed of the call and the ad..as the bike was the same as mine .. we all know what we and others ride..someone asked me if it was my old bike and if it was me that crashed it..it was brought to my attention or i never would of seen the ad

i totally understand what and why you are saying this now ac..i agree..although in this case i got robbed

Yes, by the insurance company. Like blackcamro has said the dealer hasn't done anything wrong, and I don't think omvic has anything to do with insurance companies.

i guess there arent namy of you out there that love your bikes that much.. i loved this bike and being the bike it was if it was repairable..i wanted it end of story! now i see it has been repaired! i never had the option they took the bike before i could even get my personal belongings..

Fair enough man. I just hate when everyone always has to blame the dealer when at this point I really don't see anything wrong with what he has done, as far as i am concerned right now he is just trying to make a buck. If for whatever reason he doesn't make the proper disclosures then I would be all for calling omvic, I don't like other dealers making us all look bad. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

i appreciate..again..no beef with the dealer..dont care.. my beef is with how i got screwed over guys ..not him

If it was repairable..should i not of had that option to repair it?

From what I gather, it's possible that...

It wasn't repairable - by the insurance company's standards. Their estimate for a repair back to new was more than the value of the bike. That means it's a write off, not necessarily a salvage title. If they sell it back to you, the would be implicitly acknowledging that it can be fixed to a suitable standard when they have already decided it can't. If they sell to any other highest bidder at auction, that person can apply whatever repair standards they want to fix up the bike as long as it's not a salvage title. The insurance company would no longer be responsible for unsafe or substandard repairs like they would be if they sold it back to you.

Makes sense to me.

i asked if it were to be a salvage title they said yes.. thats the upsetting part. If i seen my bike was repairable..i would of never signed off.. I took the word of them
