Working out! Fitness! Nutrition!

So who here is into fitness... Body building... Cardio.. Etc...

Well I know we all love riding... But who here loves to feel those endorphins after a great work out? I personally love fitness/body building... Great stress reliever and nothing beats the feeling of jumping on the bike after a good work out.... Anyone here into fitness as well as motorcycles?

I don't like jumping on the bike after a good work out. I hate sweaty smelly wet helmet / jacket and I don't want my riding glove smell like boxing glove.

As for workout those are stuff I do routinely....
I run and train for marathon.
I OWS. (summer only)
I road bike. (Yeah I do triathlon too)
I mtn bike.I box recreationally (not something like u guys mentioned above)

yeah that is it.

I hit the gym twice a week to work out + about 15 minutes of high-intensity cardio. I avoided cardio for the longest time (so I could put on some weight), but i got back into it a month ago and regret ever stopping it. Although I'm considering slowing down 'cause I'm almost at the point where I'm just gonna start to look too muscular for slim-fitting clothes. That, and I don't want to have to start working out my legs. lol

Also, does anyone know why my gains are getting better since I started doing cardio? I know that it tones your body overall, but I thought it'd make it a lot harder to put on some weight. I used to go 3 times a week with no cardio, and I swear I'm getting better gains with my current schedule/routine.

Right now I am doing cardio five times a day for at least 30 minutes, plus three hours of squash a week. In build phase, doing two major body parts + core every second day on the weights. Next will be plyometrics and kettlebells again to cut up. Eating 200 grams of protein a day, mostly from a mix of whey and egg albumen but also meats, keeping overall calories around 2200.

My 35 year old daughter challenged me on running a marathon with her next year (or half marathon or 10km). She has qualified for Boston. She will run the Calgary and Helsinki marathon this year and another one in the fall. I started going to the gym this week (trying to get there at least 4 times a week) and have a personal trainer booked to start me off. I usually go after work then try to find something healthy to eat afterword. Anyone know of a good healthy place to eat in Brampton? I go to the Wellness center by the new hospital in Brampton.

Thanks

5 times a day........I hope that cardio is sex

Straps or Gloves??

I am getting up there (for me anyway) in deadlifts/Shrugs/squats etc. What do you find works better? I know straps automatically add 25 rep points amongst the juice heads...but which actually work?

We should do rugby together!! mind you though it depends where I get a job, whether I play for Brampton or Peterborough. In that case, maybe I'll face you :D

Gloves won't help you with grip. If anything, they'll make it worse, but they will reduce the clauses on your hands....up to you. I haven't used gloves in years. Straps will help with deads for sure if it's your grip that's giving out before your back does. Could use them with shrugs too but will be useless for squats.

IF you want to be super hardcore, get some chalk and learn the hook grip (too hardcore even for me) for deads.

And the sex chart...#3 should be girl on top, on all fours IMHO.....not sure what that position is called.....

chalk FTW. Heavy heavy deads. Never use straps. Developes nice forearms strength. I squeezed a 71 on those squeeze strength thingies. Highest out of my whole wrestling team out of any weight class. If you use straps your grip strength will forever lag behind your back. Besides I could do 4 plates both sides for 6+ reps with just chalk. And I've seen guys at the gym do as much as 6 plates both sides with just chalk. So it's not like there is a realistic limit where you NEED straps.

My bad...I meant that European sizing doesn't really fit people who work out too much - unless you size up; but then the rest of the fit gets awkward. I'm not ridiculously tanked or anything. lol

Well depending on your goals, anyway. I use straps when I do heavy barbell rows because I want to have all of my focus on my back...instead of having to divide my attention between maintaining a good grip, contracting my back muscles and keeping my legs out of it.

For the longest time I refused to use straps and just went with chalk for all of my pulling exercises. While this is okay for stuff like deadlifting and whatever...if you want to have any kind of decent mind-muscle connection with your back while rowing anything remotely heavy multiple times a week, straps will come in handy.

Yeah I figured straps were the way to go...what gyms are you guys hitting where chalk is readily available lol

I buy my own damn chalk LOL. I go to goodlife and I think chalk is technically banned at my gym...but nobody has ever said anything to me about it and I'm pretty blatant when I use my chalk.

I went to mec and bought those little bag things that climbers use to hold their chalk. It beats using a goddamn piece of tupperware.

None...gotta bring your own and pray that the staff at your gym don't get ****** at you for making a mess. lol

And for the record...I don't use chalk. I don't even dead very often or very heavy. I have a love/hate relationship with deads because of various lower back injuries. My wrists are also pathetic along with my grip.

Warrior Dash looks wicked! Im doing Beachbody INSANITY a couple rounds so I should be good by then. Im signing up!!!
