The Times. LBC and others. Not fringe. I don’t really believe it either as it seems outrageous but to be honest, it is a reasonable explanation for the top US brass operating on Kremlin talking points.
If it was just the US voluntarily withdrawing from NATO.. and Canada staying in NATO.. I don't think would be an issue.. at least immediately. BUT.. NATO disbanding and a new coalition forming without the US.. The US is not going to take kindly to that coalition being right next door.
Rubio has been running all over central and South America.. warning everyone about cozying up to anyone other than the US...
We've heard Trump's people.. the folks behind.. or.. controlling him.. mention the Monroe Doctrine multiple times..
That's the fun part of coalitions. You don't need to include the aholes. They can stomp their feet but otherwise how do they "not allow" it? Invade canada so the whole coalition is against them? That seems short sighted (although I could see him doing it).
National Capital Region, CanadaThe Prime Minister will depart for London, United Kingdom, to participate in a meeting on Ukraine and European security hosted by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Keir Starmer.Note for media:Open coverageLondon, United KingdomThe Prime Minister will...
The talking points:
- right when he gets out of the car "oh look he came all dressed up" ... sets the tone
- russian media was in the oval office for some reason
- jd vance tripping on his "where are the thanks" when he means 'apologize for campaigning with the dems'
- jd vance saying "he's seen videos" .. i mean we've all seen videos, doesn't mean **** compared to being on the grounds
and leading up to it, a whole stumbling around saying that Russia invaded Ukraine and people wanting to change the narrative.
When Mr MAGA says theyre not ready for "peace"
The only peace they can get, is whether: capitulating to russia which sets even more precendents to take more or for Russia to gtfo back to where they came from and leaving them alone.

The Monroe doctrine is a US doctrine that, IMO, is a valid as me saying you can't have a dog on your property unless you live more than 20 miles from me. BUT it's OK for me to have a dog on my property next to yours because we have an "understanding".
The world reaction to Trump's tariff tantrums may have more than a few Amurican MAGAs thinking about how great they ever really were.
The list of American military victories that benefited anyone outside of the USA is quite short.
It's only been a few weeks and the Trump admin. has effectively undone 80 years of diplomacy...
It's starting to look like the US will become such an obnoxious bully that the rest of the world will decide not to invite it to any more parties.
'Read a good line recently...
"136 countries offered/provided aid to the US during 9/11.
Not one has asked for anything in return".
I was absolutely shocked today to learn the population of Russia is only 144.8 million. For comparison the U.S is just over 340 million and the rest of Europe is about 500 million. Unfortunately they have the largest stockpile of nukes. No wonder they’ve depleted their military manpower. I wonder how much longer they can continue this campaign. They must be looking for a way out of this that allows them to save face.

Recent footage from front-lines has shown russian forces using scooby-doo vans, civilian cars, using donkeys to help transport supplies, sending injured soldiers on crutches back out into the field, etc. Ukraine has made a few successful counterattacks lately near Pokrovsk - thus far pretty small, but it's a start. Pokrovsk is the area where the russians have been focusing on lately. Elsewhere, things have been mostly static. Meanwhile, Ukraine has been sending drones out to set oil refineries and distribution points on fire inside russia. (What air defence doing?)
I don't think Putin has been supplied with correct information. Hasn't been the whole time, still isn't. Anyone who dares to tell him bad news, had better be careful about stairwells, windows, and tea. So, he probably isn't looking for a way out of this.

Russians are using North Korean troops. Better trained, don’t drink much, lower payroll and are orginazined militarily. I don’t think the Ukrainians like fighting N Koreans.
My guess is nukes are not likely to be used unless Russia feels doomed. Losing this war won’t do that.
Ukraine is in a pickle. They can’t win without massive support, and that gets tougher the longer this war is at stalemate - there has been no military progress for some time, just an ongoing period of grinding money and soldiers.
Peter Zeihan has some interesting things to say about Russia's future...
He explains several factors compounding, leading to the eventual and total collapse of Russia.
Brain drain, leaving Russia dependant of foreign workers.
Population crisis both from people fleeing and the low birth rate.
The overall geographic layout of the country...
To name a few.
