Why Android is better than iPhone.

The only requirement is to be able to locate a phone and provide that information to 911 operators. There is no requirement to track the phone, or log the phone's movements, or backup and distribute that information in any other manner. So no, government is not Big Brother here, corporations are.

And who do you think the governments in "liberal democracies" work for?

Are we still talking about the tracking function on phones? Do you think corporations forced the government to enable GPS on cell phones under the veil of enhanced 911 service, so that they could then go and track everyone's movements?

If you're talking about the broader issue of the military industrial complex, then that's another thread.

RIM stock plummets

This is great news! Will only mean I'll get an even better deal on their Playbook which runs on the excellent new QNX software which will soon be powering their new phones.

Buy low, sell high.......

http://www.businessinsider.com/blackberry-7-delay-2011-6?hpt=te_pr

When it hits $10, is that a good time to buy?

Putting all your faith on a "superphone" running QNX, thinking that will save the company is a joke.
It's their whole Software Ecosystem that needs an overhaul.

Anyone remember Meego and Nokia?

Anyone remember Apple Inc from 1986-1993? They were the laughingstock of the industry.

Because they lacked a visionary CEO aka Steve Jobs. Do you see the heads of RIM stepping down or handing the reigns over to someone with a real vision for the future of the brand?

RIM makes good products, but they are getting left far behind both Android and iOS.

Their Playbook is far and wide outselling the Motorola Android Xoom. It can't be that bad of a product. This bodes well for future RIM products running the new OS.

you can't use banking apps on the android os because its riddled with security holes. sigh...for me its very important for me to do email money transfers, pay bills on the go and only the iphone allows me to do that....I heard that the new iphone 5 would allow u to switch between the apple os and android os....that would be awesome

I guess you didn't see the news about the guy who sold his 10.9 Million shares causing their stock to plummet.

Here is something for you guys to chew on in the meantime from today's Toronto Star :

Why BlackBerry's PlayBook looks like a hit

http://www.moneyville.ca/blog/post/902123--why-blackberry-s-playbook-looks-like-a-hit?bn=1

quote : "To demonstrate the power of the processor – which is only running on one "core" instead of two, at this point in time – a 1080p high-definition video was launched (BBC's "Life in the Blue"); Neale then swiped upwards to minimize the window, before selecting a website on the browser (which supports Flash), followed by opening a photo after that. All three windows were running simultaneously, which you can see side by side.

Clearly, Neale was showing off the processing (and multitasking) power of the tablet – and even though it wasn't yet optimized for peak performance, it was mighty impressive."

Anyways, this is all besides the point, going back the first post, its "Why Android is better than iPhone"

Keep posting guys, I couldn't pay for better entertainment.

This thread is like a time-capsule, it's awesome going back to the old posts and checking them against the current state of the market.

RIM's Playbook has failed miserably.
