Why Android is better than iPhone.

until it breaks or screws up. Then what? I'm an apple guy and I still wouldn't like this.

Then you stop using it? The sensor is built into the home button, I think theoretically you'd have a much bigger chance of breaking the home button than the sensor.

i am downloading the best operating system for FREE right now….OSX Mavericks, simply amazing….it is supposed to add an extra hour to my battery use, wow!!

Been using it for about three weeks. Nothing too noticeable on the surface, but there is a definite battery life improvement on my four year old Macbook.

Finder tabs and tags are probably the biggest changes I've noticed.

so BBM is only available for cellular devices, those with tablets are frozen out, was hoping this would be a replacement to whatsapp so i could communicate with people on my ipad like i do with imessage

I think you can download it by selecting "iPhone only" in the app store on the ipad. It's there for me, at least. It's about the 4th option in the list when searching like this.

Then what? well if you do not have it fixed, you use it like a regular iPhone before the finger print sensor. Not that complicated.
It is not use one or the other, if I do not want to use my finger prints, I can use my password like i have always done in previous gen iPhones. Nothing has changed accept they have added options.

I was unsure about the finger print thing until I used for a few days. And now I can't do without. It just makes whole experience so much better. Note, experience is a subjective thing and hard to quantify in the tech spec. Bottom line is I like it and will keep using it until I discover something else even better. So far none of my apple products have let me down yet. I guess Don't fix something aren't broken.

You could just use one of the many other cross platform messaging systems that's existed since before the iPhone even came out. Facebook and Google both come to mind.

I never understood why BBM was such a big deal when only people with Blackberries could use it when I had programs on my phone that would let me chat with anyone on any cell phone or computer.

I installed BBM and got to the front of the line. Nothing special. I only have 5 people on it and only talk to about 2 of them and I could just as easily shoot them a Facebook message or something. I actually have about 5 different apps on my phone all for various modes of chatting/texting. The only difference to me is that I get a different notification icon and different GUI depending on which one they message me on. I could care less which one they use although Google and Facebook both keep a history I can access from other devices or the PC which is kind of handy sometimes.

I am still trying to understand the BBM app.
To me it's like what's app.
Does BBM give you a pin# or can you pick?
What's app seems cool because it works across all phones and all I need is your phone # to get started.

Does BBM work with a phone # like whats app?

thx

No phone #. They give you a PIN. I don't see the point in whatsapp either. I installed it today and it says it will cost $1/yr after the first year or something while all the many other chat apps are free. What's the advantage to using BBM or Whatsapp over, say, just Facebook Messenger, or Gtalk? The benefit to those two is even your friends on computers can chat with you. No phone required.

I guess since whatsapp is based off your phone number that's a little easier to find someone and with BBM you can add someone without giving them your email address or Facebook account.

well whats app is great for people in different countries therefore no long distance charges for texting
it becomes your new sms app in a way

But why can't you use any other app that does the same thing? Facebook Messenger works over seas. So does TextPlus or Google Talk (now Hangouts). Pretty much all of them work internationally.

I never text for that reason. It's old tech to me. Ever since I got my first data plan like 7 years ago it's been redundant.

Only down side to whatsapp is it adds everyone in your contact list to whatsapp that also has the program. Downside is when/if a number gets transferred to someone else, that new person is now on your list too. (There's a loophole that you can extract all the ph #'s but it's been mostly resolved)

Apart from that, they both send messages over data (wifi or cellular). Pick the one all your friends use, done.

yup, has to have cellular. which doesn't make sense to me as it's network data.. maybe it's a stupid policy by apple

the trick is those cross platform ones have to be installed on all your friends devices, i have whatsapp which some people have but it's not free so not everyone has it. I also have impro+ which connects to all the various im things like google talk, yahoo, icq etc but i don't really like the look and feel of the program, also have talkatone which connects to gtalk/googlevoice and in addition to messaging i use it to make free ld calls through google voice (which is what i use it for mainly). I like the way iMessage works, BBM seems to be thought out as much as iMessage has...

Maybe cellular to register initially?

I've tested it on a Nexus 7 tablet by loading the APK and it worked.

I get your point but realize not everyone has data and as well not everyone uses FB and Hangouts.
They just want a simple sms app that is cheap and works everywhere.

BBM and Whatsapp both use data so that point is not valid. Probably more people have Gmail accounts (and therefore Hangouts) and Facebook accounts than whatsapp or BBM accounts.

Doesn't need cellular data on Android phones. I downloaded, installed, and registered all on wifi.

This point also isn't that great since for whatsapp and BBM your friends still need to either have it installed or have a BlackBerry. Technically Gtalk/Hangouts and Facebook require LESS installs because you can access both through the browser (on both phones and desktop) if you really don't want to install it.

Latest stats, they are processing 500,000 new users per hour with millions more in line waiting.

I guess with that many people signing up, it can be forgiven if a few people aren't crazy about the app.

Are people having problems with it or something? Works great for me.
