I would be more interested in one of those android media player sticks that have hdmi at one end and usb at the other and have storage or possibly wifi...

Go ahead and list what makes the Iphone better hardware and or software.

How about lag for one thing, Android, even JellyBean is far from as smooth as iOS. Stock Touchwiz ICS is absolutely brutal on the S3. There is the design and build quality. There isnt one Android phone out there that is designed and built as beautifully as the iPhone. Also Apple's warranty support is absolutely unbeatable

False- JB is very smooth and has a lot of features.
False- We have the ability to use several other launchers for better customization and added functionality .
Design - that is up to the beholder. The Iphone looks nice but so does an S2 and S3. The S3 mini looks nice also. I tend to favor function over form.
Warranty - You can pay $25 or so to have instant replacement (24 hours for some carriers) for the life of your contract if not you get a loaner phone while yours is repaired.

Look, most apple customers buy it to make them FEEL better and FEEL more important and FEEL cool because that is what the marketing has done.
We both know that you can take a lesser product and spend lots of money on marketing to make it sell e.g. Budweiser beer.

Please list features now.
S3 - larger screen (granted not for everyone) but there is an S3 mini 4 inch screen
S3 - more pixels, higher resolution. It is a REAL HD resolution.
S3 - better cameras
S3 - NFC - not a big thing for most but still a nice option
S3- OPEN source
S3- Better SOUND chip
S3- FASTER
S3- replaceable battery
S3- micro sd slot to add more memory
S3- working MAPS :) Google maps will always be better. They have the money for it and is part of their business revenue
S3- easy to unlock and work with just about all carriers
S3 - has a large global community offering different flavors i.e. AOKP AOSP STOCK
S3- flash the modem/radio in less than 1 minute for the country you are in or going to for better reception and or lower batter consumption
S3- Voodo Video and Voodo Sound, let's you control the colors of your phone and sound quality
S3- integration with Google Mail and Chrome - it just keeps getting better *Chrome was the number downloaded app in the Apple store a few months ago. Why are Apple users picking Google Chrome?

CM10 is not that good because it's just a rough base for other to build from.
Look for the better builds that are more refined for your phone and you will be much happier.
Look for an AOKP if not that then the AOSP build for your phone.
AOKP is bonkers.

I looked into them a bit, don't really see what the better functionality is. Perhaps customization if that's your game

It's not a matter of looks, but look at how the iPhone is built. Everything is aluminum and glass, it's amazing. When you consider the tolerances and how it's built it's actually pretty cheap for what you get. Outside of my Apple products, the only things I own that are built as nice cost the same if not more and do less. Look up a Dunhill Rollagas for instance. If you don't appreciate these things, there's nothing wrong with you, but there are many people that do.

Reference? I've never heard of this. Either way, regular Apple warranty will get you a new or fixed iPhone on the spot through any Apple store. There really is zero question about Apple's efficacy here.

We're not in highschool anymore (well some of us), everyone that I know that buys Apple products doesn't care about coolness, they just want something that works. Seems like Samsung is going crazy on the marketing lately btw, every other commercial I hear on the radio and every ad I see on youtube is for the S3

I'm mixed on the larger screen, certainly better for some things, worse for others. Apple definitely has a point that a smaller screen is easily accessible all the way across without having to readjust your hand. Don't think it's a deal breaker either way, and I'm not quite sure which one I like more

I have it on my One X and was excited to setup a payment option, too much hassle and the actual payment is no quicker than just tapping my credit card. I really don't see this taking off

At what? My iPhone has never been slow and runs smooth as butter. I understand it's an easy way to compare one phone to another by running a geekbench or sunspider test, but in the real world it doesn't metter. BTW, the iPhone5 scores better than the S3

I have never known anyone to carry around a second battery for any phone. If you really need extra battery life, a mophie juice pack is a much better option.

Google maps is great, Apple maps is actually pretty good too. I was playing with a friend's iPhone5 and was awed at the 3D views and how you can rotate around, it really is amazing. To think that they built it from scratch (with help from TomTom) and this is their first release is incredible. People really have beaten this to death, the maps are certainly functional and I would have no problem using them. Consumer Reports thinks so as well

Don't know how easy S3's are to unlock, iPhones certainly aren't, but the options are getting cheaper and more available

This is perhaps the best argument out of all of them. I love the Google web based products and Android integrates better than iOS.

You actually have this wrong. Your warranty doesn't start until you register it, and since it's registered to your account you never need a receipt or proof of purchase.

Basically what you're saying is if you love to tinker with your phone and change every thing about it until it barely works (works better?) than get Android, if you just want a phone that works, get an iPhone

There is a very slight delay between what your finger is doing on the screen and what the phone does. On iOS it is extremely direct. If you're coming from ICS you're unlikely to notice though. A friend with a S3 was playing with my phone today and didn't notice until I pointed it out to him.
 
BTW, my One X is a POS, can't believe this was considered top of the line Android hardware not too long ago. The battery is terrible, today was my first full day with it off the charger. From 7am to 9pm with very light use it was at 10%, my iPhone under similar use would be at 30-40%. It gets HOT, I thought I was going nuts until I googled it and found it's normal for it to go up to 55C, can't believe people were complaining about the iPads that were warmish compared to this. The charger port is on the left side of the phone, so if you have the cable plugged in and try to talk on it, the cable gets in the way and tries to make you drop the phone. The volume rocker is exactly where my palm ends up when my hand moves around maneuvering the screen, sending the ringer to silent. The "machined polycarbonate" body flexes and creaks, not as bad as an S3, but it's far from the solid brick feel of an iPhone. The tiny holes for the earphone collect dust, blocking sound. The tiny hole for the front camera collects dust, blocking the camera.

I'm very surprised that none of the reviews I've read have mentioned any of this. These are pretty serious design flaws
