They need to score a homerun, sleep with the prom queen and invade a small asian country, to stand a chance.

They need to create the same hype and market the bejesus out of BB10 and the device, otherwise, they could give away bricks of gold, it won't help them.
 
They could implement a laser keyboard, a mature OS with live tiles, well supported NFC, a solid android emulator. With their BBS and proprietary network security stuff (I'm not a geek, I don't know what to call it) they could do very well.

but if they don't know how to communicate all the goody bits to the consumer and corporate customer, then it won't mean a damn thing. Their OS7 devices all have NFC, security is still top notch and they still own the market for physical keyboard devices. Statistically, consumers couldn't give a flying hootenanny how secure their stuff is, they want their skype to work, they want their apps to work and they want their messages. Oh, and bonus if it still makes phone calls.

I really hope they make a couple of nice devices and are around a while longer but with 5 or so months to launch, not even a PEEP from the RIM crowd.
If they created a black website with the BB logo in the middle of it, and said "coming soon", that would draw enough hype to at least have some people interested.

I was kinda hoping for something 'revolutionary' from apple. Instead, a bit of a disappointment. New earbuds ("EarPods", seriously?) are a welcome change. Nokia wins this round IMO (wireless charging, city lens or whatever they're calling their built-in AR app, and camera tricks like the gif-maker thingy).

Iphone 5 certainly wasn't enough of an upgrade to get me back to the whole Apple ecosystem.

It IS the thinnest. The motorola phones are thinner in some sections, but you can't just ignore the huge bumps protruding more than 10mm at the camera and flash :lol:

As for iPhone5, it looks like a really nice update. When you already have the most beautiful phone on the market, an update like this simply pushes it a bit further out of reach of the competition.

Aside from the looks, the screen size looks really appealing and I bet this phone will feel wonderful in the hand. Thin, tall design still means you reach every corner of the screen with one hand but you have more icons on the page and more real estate for apps. The processor and camera sound awesome, and the screen will undoubtedly be [still] the best in the business. Looks like a winner.

The phone itself doesn't feel too much different than the iPhone 4 and 4S; yes, it's a bit taller, but by keeping the width the same, you'll utilize a very familiar grasp to hold it. In typical Apple fashion, even the finest details have been worked over tirelessly. The metal feels downright elegant to the touch, and the same line we've said time and time again applies here: there's no doubting the premium fit and finish when you clutch one of these thing. Yeah, the headphone port's now on the bottom, but avid Galaxy Nexus iPod touch users shouldn't have too much trouble adjusting.

The screen is the real draw here and I'm really interested to see how it improves the experience in real-world conditions. Obviously you're getting just a bit more real estate and the Lightning connector allows for far more room for battery and processor. Again, it's far too early to tell right now, but if you're looking for something in the sweet spot between monsters like the Galaxy S III and the arguably bordering-on-too-small (at this point) iPhone 4, this may be a good compromise. Build quality is quite nice and the solid aluminum is quite unique and quite solid. Hopefully this will reduce some damage if it falls on a hard surface.

What perhaps is more suprising is just how much snappier this feels than the iPhone 4S. The A6 chip clearly has significant amount more grunt under its smaller hood – but what is surprising is that you can immediately tell when you use the device alongside its predecessor.

The 7.6mm, 112-gram chassis is incredibly sleek, and exceptionally light... it feels almost too light in the hand. This isn't just in comparison to the relatively heavy iPhone 4S - sure, the iPhone 5 may not be the thinnest phone out there as Apple claims - but this feels incredibly light against smartphones in general. The iPhone 5 is still a sturdy and solid-feeling device, despite the weight loss. The back is primarily a slab of machined aluminum - as are the sides - but just as we saw in the leaks there are two strips of glass along the top and bottom of the device. These strips feel identical to the glass that drapes over the entire face of the device.

Its not any wider than the outgoing 3.5" screen, that's kinda the entire point. By all accounts it feels the same as the current iPhone which is a great thing. They've managed to retain the usability while increasing screen real estate. Great update.
 
I can't say I care about the screen size, but I do love the look of the black model. Can't wait to get my hands on one.

Don't understan what revolutionary features people are expecting. Smart phones have more or less plateaued, just the incremental hardware specs and software updates. Same is true for both Android and iPhones. I'm happy with a product that is thinner than the 4S, has LTE, and keeps the same battery life. NFC would have been nice, but at this point has no real functional merit.

If we compare the two biggest selling smartphones for the Christmas season, the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S3, what are the real meaningful (obvious screen size aside) differences between the two?
 
Nothing. They perform 99.9% of the same exact functions and both are readily modifiable as far as you care to take it.

Apple can only revolutionize the market so many times in a decade :lol:
