Apple named on Fortune’s list of fastest growing companies

Apple is on a bit of a roll right now. With its new iPhone event just a few days away, and rumors of a smaller iPad still swirling about, the company’s stock surged past $680 per share this morning for the first time ever.
And don’t count on Apple slowing down anytime soon. With more than 10 new products expected by the end of the year, and more in the works, Fortune just named Apple number 8 on its list of fastest growing companies…The list, which gets released annually, consists of the 100 fastest growing companies in the world. From Fortune’s article:
“Some had worried that the loss of Steve Jobs might hinder the seemingly relentless forward march of Apple. They needn’t have. Since Jobs passed away last year, Apple’s share price has risen almost 80%. In August, the iPhone maker overtook Microsoft as the largest-ever U.S. company by stock-market value.”
Apple’s only stumble so far this year came during its third quarter earnings call, when it reported a lower-than-expected 26 million iPhones sold. But, as the author points out, that was still 22% above its Q3 sales last year. The fact that Apple recently became the most valuable publicly-traded company of all time, and it’s still considered one of the fastest growing companies in the world is pretty incredible.

For example, other significant tech companies like Amazon, Google, and Samsung were not mentioned in Fortune’s top 100 list.

Of course, the big question is, how long can Apple keep this up? All empires fall eventually, right? One thing is for sure, all eyes will be on Cupertino this holiday quarter as it attempts to break last year’s record.

Bought a HTC Wildfire S for my mom. Great phone for the $70 I paid for it brand new off Kijiji, Android sucks on it though.

Not surprisingly, there is no support from HTC for it beyond Froyo (2.2.3). That's an OS that's almost two and a half years old, on a phone released a little over a year ago, still being sold by Bell.

Google really has to sort this crap out. You can get the current version of iOS (until iOS6 is released) on an iPhone 3GS that's over three years old, and it actually runs pretty damn well.

Edit: My mistake, it's actually running 2.3.3 (Gingerbread). That's still two major updates behind

same boat, but the phone my mother in law got was a 2012 release motorola motoluxe, and it only does gingerbread....which is wack for me to even fiddle with.

i keep checking to see if it will atleast get ICS.

OK....i know a little bit about creating smart playlists in iTunes(which is awesomer than creating a normal playlist)....but this example i just learned about http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2010/11/itunes-planning-dj-set/....just scroll to the part "basic tagging", on where he describes using grouping with live updating "checked"....So awesome!!!! ...Setting the rules is key.

Where it says artist, you can change it to whatever you like, i'm interested in grouping right now. Which i might use phrases like, Hype..Slow..Brap..Hot..Ol School.....Etc.

when editing file info in iTunes, you put whatever you want in grouping, to go with your smart playlists, which you would put "24 bit" from the below pic, in the above pic^^, where you input text for smart playlists....and with live updating, you can drop a song by editing the group of said song.

I am gonna be creating a lot more Smart Playlists, and most likely be getting rid of my regular playlists.

Hope that wasn't confusing for some.

Itunes is the best music organizing software on the Planet(i said this earlier). DJ's Love it!!!

Samsung's image doing just fine after Apple verdict, poll finds

A pro-Apple verdict last month could have sent Samsung's brand image tumbling, but a new poll says the company is hotter than ever!

"Samsung has had a big comeback in the past two weeks, and actually managed to surpass Apple in the firm's proprietary "buzz score" rating among both early technology adopters and those in the 18-34 age group."http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-5...ing-just-fine-after-apple-verdict-poll-finds/

Apple better crank up the genius marketing machine for i5, cos Samsung is on a tear right now, and surely some of those buyers were conquests from iphones.

What's really interesting to me as that both Engadget and The Verge failed to mention the obvious similarities to the iMac

Yeah its very surprising. I think they were afraid of being blasted by droves of apple-hating sheep (sunny) even though the truth is painfully obvious
