who's still riding? (in toronto)

Was about as good as you're gonna get for December today! Dry, some sun, 15 above, even a little rain last night to wash the worst of the salt down.

Been sick as a dog the last few days, but I still went out for a quick afternoon circuit of the east end (out to Ajax via north side and back again south). Judging by the weather for the next couple weeks, the likelihood is high that that'll be the last riding I get to do this year, but we'll see.

Just got back.
'twas fun!

Yeah I put the battery tender on but hope we might see some warmer days next week tho looks like only Monday is much above freezing :(

got in a good ride today but injured my hand after so that's it for me this year.

Hey, were you on Kingston Rad around 4:30? I did see a fella on a Burgman zipping by in the other direction around then.

Nope but I suspect its another member here. Was it grey/silver?? Likely my previous 650

Best commute of the year this morning. Don't know why, but there was a lot less traffic, and for the most part cars stayed far enough apart from each other that (legal) passing was done without a second thought. The visor wasn't even fogging up much. I think I'm starting to prefer riding in the cold. If only I had heated gloves to keep my hands warm. (HINT, HINT JIMMY!)

Saw someone on a Hayabusa heading downtown from the beaches along Lakeshore on Wednesday morning. I admired the courage given it was cold and rainy out - anyone from here?!

I agree - very very light traffic today. Yesterday was nice because of the weather - today was just a nice ride all around.

EDIT: I hope I didn't just jinx the ride home ;)

Commuted every day this week. Had to do some running around for meetings yesterday, so the warmer weather was definitely a bonus. Also took advantage of the weather when I got home to pull out the power washer and give it a good clean. The road spray earlier this week was getting pretty caked on.

Yeah I washed mine as well just in case it stays put away - easier when warm. Not looking good next two weeks. :(

Quoting myself from another thread lol

+1 Not sure about you guys, but the rides that I enjoy the most are always in fall.

I like October rides with the colors etc but the short days are annoying. June in the Northern hemisphere is my fav riding time.

For me it's April May, September, October. June too, I suppose, if it doesn't get too hot too early.

I used to ride winter, i stopped.

I've blown two engines now on super sports. The cold rides were after full warm up 60-70deg, the bikes blew something in the engine, i realised this happened to both bikes that i owned that i rode all year and in winters on not so cold days, like 5 degrees (feels like 0 to -2) to 1 degrees (feels like -2 to -6) in winter on dry clean roads. Never had this problem on super sports i rode in only April to September.

Carbed Supermotos can take it, but the supermotos need valve, timing all tune up adjustment all the time.

Just letting people know if you really love your sports bike, don't ride it past October 31st...i now understand why motorcyles are not meant to be ridin in cold weather, not because it's slippery, too cold for us, it's because the engine will eventually die.

Both bikes were extremely well maintained too, and with the right weighted oils for different seasons.

i Guess sport bikes are like exotic cars mechanically not made to operater under certain outside temperature regardless of engine temp.

You are drawing a conclusion based on an extremely small sample size. Cold did not kill those motors - anything with a thermostatically controlled cooling system will barely even notice.

I am! But I put my bike down going around a corner... I was making a left hand turn, slowed down way before, was only doing about 20km/h, if that....and the bike just lost traction, before I knew it I was down, and back up again, dusting myself off. Bike and I were both OK, but damn these salty/sanded roads down by the lake are dangerous! Still had fun afterwards riding the back country roads out here. Just need to bundle up real good!
