I still need to ride my bike to the storage location! Plan was to do that today but the roads are covered

Hi all!
Ive had my bike for a couple weeks but finally got a plate on it yesterday. So yesterday was my first ever on road motorcycle ride! It was cold. It was windy. It was sometimes embarassing with a couple stalls, a couple hits of the horn instead of the turn signal, a couple times I couldn't get the signal off and just kept going from left to right and back trying to get it off (HA!), but it was awesome. I put 25k on the bike - pretty much all of it in traffic. Trial by fire! Or maybe by ice!
I had it out to do an errand today too - not far just 5k - but I had two great cars to choose from and the -12 didnt deter me.
This little Yam WR250X is a fun bike. She and I are going to get along well.
Im obviously taking it super easy - Im not good on it yet. The cold isnt helping with the throttle thats sticking open and closed...and those streetcar tracks are slick in the cold.

Haha, I was going to bring the bike back home to store on Friday but got preoccupied doing something else and it came down HARD on Sat. I'm waiting for that day as well and it might be tomorrow. Just trying to decide whether I'm going to ride an extra 30 mins detour to drop by the self car wash to wash my bike before putting it away....
Damn it, just realized that I reached my 1000km mark.... Gotta do an oil/filter change and lube cables... Guy a Kahuna lied! He said that I wouldn't be able to hit 1000km until late Spring - Screw paying $180 + tax for that job...

you sure put on a lot of mileage for having the plate on for only a day...
25 thousand putting around and an errand of 5 thousand all in a day
I am sure you meant 25Km for the day and an errand of only 5Km
careful riding aound on cold tires, they will not grip, and you will lose the bike, very quickly....
glad to hear your having fun, but be careful, the riding season is just around the corner...

Tires used on my Suzuki GS500F are Front: 110/70-17 54H Bridgestone Battlax BT45
Rear: 130/70-17 62H Bike is holding out very well with no issues. I ride all year as long as the road is clear with no ice or snow. Also, plug the battery in to the Battery tender jr. after each ride. Great bike, love riding it every chance I get!

already put away the bike... the biggest factor is snow and ice on the road, is too risky i don't want to damage the bike or myself.
Salt and liquid gets splash up from cars in front, helmet, jacket, everything is dirty after a ride...
I admire everyone who still ride.... you guys are warriors, I have already pushed myself to the limit.

No, I did mean 25,000 and 5,000 kms. It is really cold out and it took longer than expected to get the engine to operating temperature, so I just kept riding around honking my horn and flicking my signals back and forth.
Im a runner - 15k, 20k....42.3k....and yes, I mean thousands again!
Thanks for the tips on the cold tires - I know all about that and am being cautious. Ive done a fair bit of instructing at Mosport in the cold - fun climbing into a high powered sports car on a questionable weather day with a driver who you dont know. Ive given those warnings many times myself.

I went out yesterday to fill up my tank & put fuel stabilizer in it, most parts of the road had ice patches & in the gas station I had to duck feet the bike out cause there was just so much ice. But it wasn't cold to ride
Did that last week, rode to the gas station just fine... on the way back... couldn't feel my hands when I got home.

It's no where near safe or sane to be riding in this snowy weather unless you're a serious rider like our friend from Port Perry with the 80K on his 2012. DDean, be careful man. This isn't noob friendly weather at all. Save it for spring. For now, sit on it and make "vroom, vroom" noises!
