who's still riding? (in toronto)

any link?

Saw the same "Magic Gloves" for sale at Shopper's Drug Mart (In Port Perry) yesterday at the checkout counter.

..Tom

Found out this morning that cold streetcar tracks are almost as bad as wet streetcar tracks.

(No harm at all, was just surprised to feel the rear wiggle as if it was wet.)

So, what's the magic about them?

Lol, they're single layer (usually black) knitted gloves. Just an extra layer - but to be honest, the $20 glove liners from sportchek is 10x better in terms on keeping your hands warm.

Wearing those magic gloves give you (maybe) an extra 5 mins in the cold.

Yup, magic 5 minutes, makes a world of difference for my 10 minute commute @ 89 cents.

Still riding!! On the scooter... but still fun!

-1C coming home last night.

Love those down sweater jackets under the leathers man! Those things in recent years have broken the cold barrier.

Speeds.....taking the 5th

-1C and heading out this morning.

But it looks like snow cud come early this year....It seems colder than most years for this stage. I woud typically ride into the second week of December. Don't know if I can make it this year. Already had the first day of flurries 2 nights ago. A couple more days of flurries and the snow will begin to stick to the ground. As I say, it seems early this year.

I've stopped riding...

For those of you still riding, careful on Finch between Victoria Park and Don Mills heading west, there's ice. People were falling, abs kicking in, etc...

Almost gave up last night, took forever to get the bike started after letting it sit outdoors all day.

Would a better battery be easier to work with? This Crappy Tire battery works fine otherwise.

What's the best battery for cold weather starts?

Was thinking of riding this morning but too much frost on the street. The forecast doesn't look promising, no above average temps for the next two weeks so it looks like it's time to winterize and store it.

Ride this morning seemed similar to the ride last night

Still riding since it is a 4 km ride to work for me. Plan to ride my GS500F as long as the roads are dry. Bike still riding well with no problems with over 28,000 km on it.

what tires are you on and how is it holding out so far?

Was out today. A good multilayered bike coat and a pair of snowmobile gloves and I'm still good. My limits are 4-5 degrees, because below that you get too much of a chance of ice in shadowed areas. Had a spectacular wipeout in one of those years ago, not something I'd care to repeat...

+1

Daytime high has to be around 2 to 4 degrees C for me with no threat of ice on the road in the morning and late afternoon.

I've learned the hard way.

Heated grips will let you run a whole lot later into the season for $100 or less, or you can buy elephant ears to cover your hands for $14 bucks at princess auto.

I run with an inexpensive heated jacket these days, and I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy flicking that switch for heat, as opposed to donning so many layers that I have trouble shoulder checking.

That being said, out on PEI the snow came last night, with more in the forecast, so the stabil went in last Sunday after my final ride for the season. :(
