Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

I meant your kids 😂

One of my kids doesn’t even live at home anymore and the other is perhaps older than some members here and works full time despite still living at home. 😉

Lol me working never stopped my dad from handing me a shovel. And sometimes it's just good form to start to take care of your parents.

Anywho it was just a joke 🙂

All good, he does his share. He also pays rent however. ;)

That said, the chance of getting things done vs procrastinating on it goes up when the snowblower is sitting there and ready to rock and roll vs the shovels.

I should have went out today but I am battling some cold/mild flu BS since Friday afternoon and really didn't feel like it, as much as I wanted to. Irked the heck out of me this afternoon when it was sunny and quite pleasant for a few hours.

4C and overcast so just a short 100km. Should have thrown my rain jacket on as one final layer and I would have been toasty instead not really cold but barely warm.
Halfway thru my hands were cold. Thought I'd warm them over tea or beer (preferably the latter) at a buddy's place. He wasn't home so I warmed my hands on the exhaust and got a pair of latex gloves out of my first aid kit to give that hack a whirl. It did help somewhat but better gloves are the real answer. Also I found the latex underneath to be very uncomfortable which was weird as I often wear them in the garage.

Don't allow yourself to dwell on this. I faced the same situation today. In fact, I was already in my moto gear, standing in the garage, had a route planned, but just couldn't muster the motivation.

It happens to us all from time to time. Forget it and move on.

but just couldn't muster the motivation.

Yeah, that sums it up. Not feeling well didn't help for sure. I've got over it, the way this fall/winter is going thus far I'm pretty sure there will be more opportunities. Trying to make 20,000km this year to break some mental barrier however, but if it doesn't happen, meh.

I had a mission to do today and was hoping I could take the bike, that I just washed. Was waiting for the weather to clear, but every time I looked outside it was snowing. I ended up taking the truck, and found some heavy salt accumulations where I least expected them. One more run to warm up the oil so I can change it, and that will be it for a while.

Snow, haven't see any yet in the city. I guess you are more north?

I tried to ride yesterday as well but rain at 9 and flurries started at 1030 so I started packing the bikes up for the winter.

Yesterday I had a 3 hr window to go ride before family arrives for putting up outside Christmas lights. Then snow pellets bounced off the roof unto my face as I looked up and saw all the leaves in the eves trough. So I reluctantly gave in and got the ladder to fish them out 1/2 hour later it stopped so off the ladder, still had time to ride, then light rain so went back up the ladder then it stoped and sun came out oy. Shoulda just gone, that would have been my last ride I think. But will see what they salt up on Thursday. So far no salt or brine yet. But am not hopeful.

I had better get the Ural winterized. After my eye surgery next week i won't be able to ride till after xmas.

Oy... was out on the bike last night, wasnt bad at all...
but this morning, it feels like the air got crispier even though the sun should make it feel warmer, ill pass on riding today lol

Brrrrrrr.... 0°C

Aiming for the dry patches on the asphalt at this temperature to avoid black ice.
