I thought about something like that. I could make one with stuff I have. I'm fearful of gas fumes accumulating in my vacuum to the point of explosion. Maybe it would be neat to blow up a shop vac, but then I'd need to buy a new one.
Yeah, don’t use a shop vac for flammable vapours, they’re absolutely not designed for that - the motor and brushes and all sorts of electrical bits are not only exposed, but often cooled by the very air you vacuum.
Ah good point. Here's another possibly crazy idea that is likely not as easy as just tipping the bike over and using a garden hose, but fun to think about.
Use the venturi effect and something like the outlet of a shop vac or leaf blower or compressor to create the suction at one end of a hose while exhausting any tank vapours at the other end of the hose and avoiding possibility of drawing vapours into the vac/blower/compressor
Just looked it up and there are lots of devices like this on Amazon, driven by air compressors. Look up "vacuum generator".
Here's a video of someone jury rigging the same idea with a couple of parts you probably already have. If it's good enough for Cajuns, it's probably good enough for us!
How much surface area does the fuel filter have? Compare that with the size of the offending paper. You should now feel better about just leaving it where it is.

I'm up for a ride but I'm also on the wrong side of the GTA.....
It's about the size of a nickel. It's in my V Strom. There are 4 separate inlets to a strainer about the size of a flip phone. I think I will leave it until the next time I need or want to remove the fuel tank, like for air filter service, which I recently did. Removing it is a PIA.
I'm gonna have to plead the fifth on where I ride so I don't self-incriminate... and I wouldn't want to give you any potentially illegal advice... So instead let me tell you what you totally should not do:
1) Do not get something quiet/electric so you can be so stealthy and slow when people are around, and stupid and reckless when they aren't.
2) Do not go to trailforks' map page, here: https://www.trailforks.com/trails/map/?nearby=1
3) Do not go to the top left corner of that page and select "MOUNTAIN BIKE"
4) Do not play with the filters which let you select trail types like single or double track, paved or gravel, rail trails or wilderness trails, etc. and definitely do not use these filters to map out the trails that Karens definitely won't be on.
5) If you're hauling your electric toy in, you definitely should not use Google Streetview to find a quiet residential street you'll leave your SUV/truck at, and you definitely could not also use Google Maps to find a nearby community center, a nearby cemetery, or a nearby hockey arena with a parking lot to park in either.
All of this would be very very bad and would really upset the squares if they found out you did this.
For about a week now I've been riding almost every night, then getting naked and wet, and then riding back home again.

Don't worry, I'm not breaking up with anyone's mom. And no, I'm not putting my Harley-Davidson Girlsbike away for the winter either.
But tomorrow I should finally be getting hot water at home like a 21st century human! Since last Monday I've had no hot water, so I gotta get on the bike and ride to a hot shower every night or every other night.
Fun fact: Warranties on tankless water heaters are like 15 years, so even though mine was 8 years old, and I didn't have any receipts because the previous owner put it in, I reached out to the manufacturer, sent them a bunch of pictures that they asked for, along with the serial number, and they're giving us a totally free unit which saves thousands of dollars.
We had a similar situation with a component in the furnace a few years ago... Moral of the story, your house **** is probably covered by warranty, go annoy the manufacturer, they'll probably give you new stuff for free.
