Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

I have all day Sunday available this weekend to ride. Saturday is hosed.

Of course....

Fack.....

Not too bad a day for a ride yesterday. Quite windy and around 10C. Got out for a 201.5 km ride and hit up a few of my favourite roads, some of them twice. Not a fan of the tar/stone surface treatment on Pretty River Road; it's loud and has questionable traction. Some nice new pavement on CR9 though. River Road was empty, until two other riders caught up to me. They went south from Terra Nova, while I continued over to Prince of Wales. We came together again at Prince of Wales and 5 Sideroad and they followed me down to Camilla where they headed east over to Mono Centre. I hope to get out once or twice more, but I added Stabile on my fuel stop at Cashtown Corners, just in case.

Great day yesterday for a riding some ganny double track. Told my buddy it's a good thing I landed on the same shoulder both times I fell. No sense going home with two sore shoulders....

What app are you running? Are those lean angles correct?

I managed 230km today. It was sunny and cool 6C and I broke out the heated liner and gloves. What a great feeling especially to have a warm back and neck. I went up to Hockley to snag a tag for another forum and see my favourite mural artist’s latest in Barrie.

I wanted to go out today but had to drive family to the airport. Between that, winterizing the RV, and raking leaves before tomorrows rain....the bike never left the garage. 😢

It is by an artist called Bruno. He goes by @Brunosmoky on instagram
As I was getting ready to leave, he pulls in and I ask him if he’s the artist. We shot the breeze for a while he gave me some prints. Very cool guy. I took his picture

Wow that’s some beautiful artwork. Really nice!

That's the ESR app. Unfortunately they have discontinued supporting it recently. It still works, but doesn't retain any history or your profile that kept track of every ride. So I have to take a screenshot after saving the ride, because once you exit the app the information disappears. Not sure about the accuracy of the lean angles, but the rest of the info seems right.

I think my cold street ride 2 weeks ago was my last one for the year. The 599 is just too chilly with the wind and I can't really make my boots any warmer.

Aside from the leaves covering the trails, it's been perfect weather in the woods, don't have to worry about sweating lol.
Kyle and I went out to Horseshoe yesterday and had a great ride. Unfortunately a friend drove up 1.5 hours to join us. Newer dirt rider, but a guy full of piss and vinegar. Sent it too hard on the double track before even getting to the trail. Total ride time for him pre&post crash was less than 6 minutes. Don't worry, he lived to do things again, just maybe next season.

It was cool riding in the Ganny on Friday but a short bout of single track had me unzipping the jacket.

Thanks. That's a shame. I'd used the app a while ago and recall I liked it; went to search for it earlier this season and couldn't find anything in the store or on their web page.

Check out the Yamaha MyRide app. Yeah, it's branded, but of course it doesn't care what you actually ride...and it seems like it did a lot of the same stuff the last time I played with it.

Anyhow, I went out for a ride this morning. Woke up to sun streaming around the blinds in the bedroom and when I rolled them up it was evident it was actually kind of nice. I asked the lady in the tube what the temps were and when I heard 10 degrees, I was in and out of the shower in 20 minutes and on the bike 10 minutes after that. Didn't go particularly far, but was out for a few hours. Took the bike to the pay-and-spray afterwards and gave it a good wash down including a lot of the bottom and frame grime that had built up from a summer of adventure. Checked the odometer and I'm coming up on 20,000km for the season. Not even close to my biggest season, but not terrible I guess. Thought I'd rode more.

Filled up and added stabilizer. Life is going to be crazy for the next few weeks so it's entirely possible this will be the last ride of the calendar year at least.

140km, Pickering to Port Perry and back yesterday. Much of it on gravel. A lovely ride, beautiful bright sunshine, about 8°C the whole way. Heated grips, heated vest, and a few layers kept me comfortable. I didn't encounter a single bike on the road, and only three at the Tims in Port Perry. I guess all the fair weather riders have packed it in.
