First almost 100km of 2024 in the books.

Loving this thing so far, especially the heated seat. Had to turn it down at one point as it was frying my ass lol.

Maybe you can fry some eggs on it while wild camping on your way up to JBR.

I mean chicken eggs, not........

Very nice looking bike. What did it replace?

Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager 1700. Bought it in the spring of 2020 about a month before Covid hit. I put about 65,000km on it and decided on my way back from Vermont last October that it wasn't my forever bike. Absolutely great bike, especially for the money they sell for, don't get me wrong, but the ergos just never quite worked for me for some reason I could never quite put my finger on. I whined about it in this other thread lol.

Heat wave out west - 8°C on Feb 2nd!

Officially a 12-months-a-year rider! :p

Flying back now, but just over a week ago I was enjoying some glorious 30+ riding.

We did have one afternoon of light drizzle, bummer.

Somewhere in the hills outside Chiang Mai;

Next week there is suppose to be a warm up around here. We'll see.

Aaaaan, of course, I'm out of the country.

Now, I'm headed somewhere nice and warm, but also somewhere without my motorcycle.

Took advantage of the third sunny day we had this year and took the 919 to get lunch. Would have rode it yesterday, but the wimpy battery wasn't up to it

-8c and still in Dynamic Pro. Well done ;)

What we have here is... a failure to communicate...

My bad, it's supposed to be an em dash, not a negative sign. Should have read:

Heat wave out west — +8°C on Feb 2nd!

But I normally ride with max power and all the rider aids off or set at the most minimum levels possible, regardless of temps and road/trail conditions.

There was a Ryan F9 video that made fun of guys like me... can't find it to link...

He's making fun of both of us then as I turn them off also. More fun when the bike is trying to kill me.
I will try out the Rally mode traction control on the new 1290 though as I've heard it's pretty amazing offroad.

Delayed realization:

I dressed appropriately, but still in the past riding in 2-3 degrees would not been have tolerable for me any amount of time. It still didn't feel that bad to me out there. It was pleasant!

I used to be pretty underweight... the pandemic fixed that. I guess that "extra" mass is good for some things

Edit: missing word

Why does everyone complain about salt and brine? I've been riding since 2018 during some winter months and have zero signs of rust. Does it depend on the bike?
It's like a old wives tail, people accept it as truth without speaking from experience.

My HD seemed to survive as well. But I will have to say I did notice some pin holes on some chrome bits, but hardly anything earth shattering.

There's very little raw metal on your bike. Those coatings protect the substrate. Driving in the salt and brine will test the quality of those coatings. If like me you have removed the coatings and polished the aluminum then you need to be very careful. Salt stains won't buff out but need minor (very fine ) sanding.

Yup norammly I ride all year including winter on days when there isn't ice or snow (or risk of). I'm on my 4th Strom since 2006 having done over 765,000km between the four bikes and the only rust I've ever seen in the bike's was on some of the non factory parts (sidecase mounts)

One exception on the Stroms there is a metal part that is part of the front mount for the gas tank and that tends to get a bit if light surface rust it I don't protect it with ACF50.)
