Not really, it's not about which street it's about the conditions of the street and like I said if the street you live on hasn't been cleared of ice and snow then you can't avoid it.
This is how my street looks. This is better then it has been because it warmed up yesterday. But still why risk it for a limited scoot. View attachment 59373
Was in Burlington yesterday. Appleby and hwy5. Most of the sidestreets looked like they hadn't seen a plow all winter. It was a crazy mess. Where do the tax dollars go?
I have gear and I'm not afraid of the cold. (I'm a sledder) What I want to know is how do you keep the front end from washing out when riding down a snow covered road?

Goes into how to raise more taxes.
Yup same around here, only reason the streets have cleared up, because of usage and warmer weather.
I'm sure at the end of the winter all the plows, salters and what not will be out plowing and moving snow around to use up the budget. Then another snowfall will happen and they will not do anything.

This is totally rideable. Stay between the lines, and go slow when the tire isn't on asphalt. If you're within a 10 minute ride of me I'll come over and show you, maybe even do a little burnout on my scooter to melt some of the scary stuff for ya.
Just kidding. I just replaced my tires and I'm cheap, no burnout for you lol
Seriously though, you're good. I went out riding today. It's okay. 90% of running errands involve going to businesses. 90% of businesses tend to be on main roads.
Things are plenty good if you feel like riding. If you don't feel like riding you can just say that, but if you feel like, and you don't go stupid in the sketchy spot, it's totally fine.

Burlington doesn't get a lot of snow that hangs around, if it's going to melt in a day or two, the side streets are usually left. I was at there a couple of times last week, there was no snow on the roads last Tuesday -- midweek got a dumping, some left Saturday, all melted now.
6 degrees!! Absolute scorcher today gentlemen. Get out on two.
I was going to take the truck because I'm going for a hair cut and don't want all that stuff in my helmet liner, but, with a February heatwave, who can turn down the opportunity to go for a rip??
It's dry enough here to take the scoot out but I have my sled in front of the door and I'm really hoping to get it out. Bought 197$ worth of trail pass Sunday just before finding out the trails are just muddy strips down a snowy field. Arrgggghhhh!

Gotta head pretty far to get decent snow. I was up in Matheson in Nov, great conditions. Back mid Jan, trails northbound were OK but mostly ice, same with lakes - not much snow, and the snowpack was icy-hard, I ran my ATV instead.
I think you need to get to South River before the trails are snowy.

This has been a great winter for riding! I've never used my car for commute for more than 2 of 5 work days in a week. Even that big dump we had a couple weeks ago only kept the bike off the road for one day before the main streets were cleared.
Back in the +'s now, I think I managed to ride through the worst of the weather we'll have this year.
Mind you, I have a secret weapon ordered from, and shipped out of, England...

Haha! I know. They were like that when I bought it last spring. I had an '03 with GSXR forks and bought this one for parts, but it runs much better than my other bike so I switched.
In the spring I'm gonna see what I can do with some Never Dull.
