Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2019 Edition)

Pretty nice out today and the Forks had a number of riders ....the cafe is open at a pick up window and parking allowed in the lot....people seemed to be keeping distance. Thought I was out for a long ride but shoulder injury just killing me :( ....might try again in an hour see if the pills kick in.
Try CBD roll on. Helps with my shoulder pain when riding.

Great day to ride, this is getting somewhere.

Here is part of my route, I forgot to turn on the app to record it. Starting someplace in Gilford.

In the same area this little guy decided to cross the road.

I have some ...will try next decent day. Voltaren helped when I got home. Way it's going I'm going to have trouble doing any touring. Luckily or not it looks to be delayed. Usually I ride in Australia but not this year so been very dry since the cross country last July  and that was very hard on my shoulder tho the last 7 days I did okay with 750-850 km per day.

But shoulder likely got damaged a bit more ( doc says torn rotator ).
Partner who is medical worker says get a new scan. I've used a steriod shot and it's worked okay for the first few times ...not so much the last time and I've been trying to avoid over use.
Anyways thanks. Time to get a new scan.

@Max527 where and how does one go about getting some?...I too have a neck and shoulder injury that could use some relief..
I actually got it at the motorcycle show. I have this pain that no doctor, physio, chiro can figure out. So I tried it this one time and it worked to numb the pain.

Another 450K in the books yesterday. It was almost an exact duplicate of the ride I did last week, but it was being led by a friend who wanted to go last week but couldn't make it as he's still at work, so meh, any ride is a good ride, I'll happily go again. ;)

@MacDoc if there's one pain I know (amongst many) it's shoulder pain - before having my right shoulder reconstruction done a few years back I had a full thickness rotator cuff tear and I agree, the pain could be annoying as hell at times. Unfortunately short of narcotics (which preclude riding) it was also a hard one to control with OTC meds. Anti inflammatories worked best but you have to be careful to not develop an ulcer taking NSAID's regularly and heavily. Ask me how I know.

If you find they help, ask your doctor for a prescription for Vimovo - it's a heavy dose of NSAID's but with an acid reducer/stomach buffer built in - I've taken them fairly regularly for years now and found them very helpful with a variety of pains. You could also try Robaxacet - yes, it's not a back problem, but Robaxacet is basically just acetaminophen (Tylenol) with a side of Methocarbamol - a muscle relaxant. I've found that in some situations the underlying pain is caused by your muscles tensing up around the sore spot, making the pain worse than it may otherwise be - the muscle relaxant helps alleviate that, and thus, the underlying pain. Worth a shot. If you find they work, FYI, you can buy them at Costco for a fraction of the cost of the brand name stuff - green package, Kirkland brand, "Muscle and back pain relief" or something like that. 2 Bottles with 90 capsules in each for less than the cost of 15-20 caps everywhere else.

You could also look at getting a cortisone shot as well of course. It's only a temporary fix for typically 1-2 months, but if it's a temporary fix during the peak riding months, well..it's a good option.

Thanks - excellent advice and the muscle relaxant a good idea as I find the whole arm tenses up over the ride/
I did get cortisone and it did help most times but he warned me there was a limited number of times it should be done. This might not be long enough riding year to get one but for sure Robaxacet sounds like an easy try.

It's been a saving grace for me several times over the years when my back acts up, or my old broken wrist (1995 motorcycle wreck) acts up, or my neck acts up (2001 spinal fusion) or my sciatiaca acts up, or my left ankle (4 fractures 2 sprains) acts up, or whatever else goes wrong LOL.

I carry a bottle on the bike with me all the time.

Let me know if it works for ya. When I need them I start out with 2 tabs right out of the gate (1000MG of acetaminophen plus the methocarb) and it knocks things out decent. Yes, it says to start with 1 tablet and take 2 at the next dose, but I know myself well enough that if I'm resorting to the med bottle to begin with, yeah...just take the 2 to start and get things over with. 1000mg is a safe dose anyways.

Just be careful to not go over the limits (I stay to about 3000mg a day although you can go up a little higher IIRC) as well as keep them spaced out. Don't want to fry your liver.

Re Cortisone, yeah, it's temporary, and yes, you are really only supposed to have 2 hits of it before it potentially makes things worse, and it loses effectiveness as well.

I just got a shot in my left shoulder (the next one due for a rotator cuff repair) back in February and it lasted a solid 2 months. Thankfully when it worse off the pain seemed reduced somewhat - it's still painful to put my arm over my head and behind my back, but at least while in a neutral position or resting it's moderately pain free right now, so I'm hoping it stays that way since my appointment with the surgeon to get things assessed was cancelled the first week of the Covid situation.

Keep posted,..my doc reluctantly said surgery might be an option.

Tried Robaxacet today and I'd say it was worthwhile to explore more. I don't get along with ibuprofen so will get the non-combined pill and use with Celebrex or acitominiphen. It was only up to the Forks and back but felt better today.

A few riders out and was nice to have a coffee and brownie outside and catch up on gossip. (y)
Summer gloves and light gear...really nice.

Excellent day for riding. Though I didn't see too many riders out.

Had planned to go up to Collingwood, but only made it to Wasaga. Out of there I took HWY 92, turns into Moonstone rd which was nice, and new to me. This is what I ended up with.

Maybe we need a new thread, I think we are all (or most) are riding now?

How long, distance was this trip?

Went out Thursday to Orleans (Ottawa) to pickup a new Ultimate seat for my ride. Had bought a Corbin back in late March and realized it just wasn't going to be the right seat for me, and neither was the Kawi optional gel seat that the bike came with. Was really missing the Ultimate off my old VTX and was lucky to score this one - and I love it.

890KM on Thursday, 100 or so yesterday and 390km today. Loving it. WOW was the weather nice today - went out with the wife and planned for only a few hundred KM tops (she not a huge fan of the super long stuff) but once we got out there it was too nice to just not keep going.
