Sounds good, well, I'm off to watch some Asa Akira and go to bed, I sleep better after.

Lots of simul-posting going on. I see the point about minorities within a larger culture.

I live in Brampton. Does that mean a "white" ride is fair game??

How about Markham??

Brampton's largest demographic is east indian. But is still a magority white. There are huge areas mounts of european immigrants and others that would be considered "white".

I think we can agree that hurting anyone in the name of religion is wrong and I'm sure we can also agree that there will always be a few bad apples in the bunch. Now, how many KKK members exist today?
According to: http://www.numberof.net/number-of-kkk-members-today/
The answer is 5000-8000 people. A relatively small number in the grand scheme of things and in no way do they represent anything Christianity stands for.

Now, how many middle easterners kill and slaughter their own innocent people everyday? And for what reasons? Religion? Sexual Orientation? Political views?

The whole world is moving forward and trying to improve themselves, while the middle east is stuck in the 8th century.

Now you can also argue that the middle easterners that are doing these things in noway represent their faith and sadly, as you probably grew up in Canada, you have no idea how wrong you are.

First in its peak the KKK was 2-3 million. Among being a racist group they were also Pro-prohibition and made up a huge voting block that if not courted by presidents they were not openly criticized during elections at the core they were a Christian organization. Also the KKK may be a smaller group now but other right-wing extremists including a subset that is what would be classified as "white-power" is currently on the rise.

Christianity was dragged kicking and screaming into modern times by progressives during the Age of enlightenment all the way to present day. The muslims during earlier periods were advanced scientists and philosophers that also had a big progressive streak. Unfortunately extremism in islam was fuelled un part by European colonialism and 1 particular incident involving a dutch colony and a certain famous volcano that acted a prophetic tinder box to rally separate small groups around the muslim world. Even today massive groups of secular muslims are pushing for change in these countries. In most of the recent uprising they started as secular movements for actual change only to be hijacked by larger better funded groups.

Social change is slow it took almost 50 years for Homosexuality from going to criminalized to accepted in NA/Europe. You want to tar all muslims with the same brush and while, I will argue that Moderates of any group often passively promote extremism with silence, its not fair to do this. Actions of extremist do not represent Islam as a whole only that sub set. Unless you want to tar christians with the same brush because a bunch of Ugandan Christians want State sanctioned execution of Gays.

People in the middle east are a victim of poverty and geography nothing more. If islam had gone to Europe and enjoyed the benefits of the climate and resources and christianity had populated the middle east the roles would be the same because Health, Wealth and resources promote progressiveness.

OP, i like how you sarcastically created this group to make a point. I was thinking about doing something similar yesterday. Lets all start creating groups that are racist/prejudice and exclude others and when they notice it, say hey man, its just like having a cruisers only group lol

Well done!

Once is probably enough. People were able to say what they wanted to say.

Something has been demonstrated here in these posts: At the most minor disagreement, we draw lines on the sand between "us" and "them".

We need something larger than us, something to unite us beyond our differences. I thought that 'something' was riding a two-wheeled vehicle. The great equalizer in this case is that we all ride. This website has been focusing on that for many years. What happened now?

Agreed, this is what i said in the Muslim rider thread. That rather than creating lables to divide us, we should strive to unite and get passed our differences. Highlightng our differences and focusing on them rather than what we have in common is very backwards thinking IMO and will only lead to more divisions on this site and further in the world.

Isn't multiculturilism(sp) supposed to celebrate all the differences? Just because some people can't do that correctly shouldn't spoil it for the rest of us. I know I feel particularly festive when everybody in my immediate surroundings looks and acts like nobody else. And the rich aroma makes the experience that much more joyous.

Oh absolutely. I love it when people from different background/cultures/life experiences/beliefs come together and yes it does make for an amazing learning experience.
Multiculturalism is about being together not excluding other like they are trying to do in a thread called Muslim Riders. Thats the opposite of coming together and enjoying the company of people from different beliefs/background. Thats dividing people.
So yes i agree with your point and saying this is the opposite of what you are saying.

Bingonero? No comprendo nada sin dinero.

The joy/benefit of multiculturalism is in the sharing and exposure to other cultures, not in the fractionalization and insulation from others.

So it's more of a theoretical concept then. I have a dream.

No, it's not theoretical. We already have it to a great extend in Canada. most of us get a long, love each other regardless or faith/background and dont exclude others. Only if some groups stop trying to bring divide and instead try to bring people together, this very real and in practice notion will grow more.
