Oh ok.Not yet
Lots of simul-posting going on. I see the point about minorities within a larger culture.
I live in Brampton. Does that mean a "white" ride is fair game??
How about Markham??
I think we can agree that hurting anyone in the name of religion is wrong and I'm sure we can also agree that there will always be a few bad apples in the bunch. Now, how many KKK members exist today?
According to: http://www.numberof.net/number-of-kkk-members-today/
The answer is 5000-8000 people. A relatively small number in the grand scheme of things and in no way do they represent anything Christianity stands for.
Now, how many middle easterners kill and slaughter their own innocent people everyday? And for what reasons? Religion? Sexual Orientation? Political views?
The whole world is moving forward and trying to improve themselves, while the middle east is stuck in the 8th century.
Now you can also argue that the middle easterners that are doing these things in noway represent their faith and sadly, as you probably grew up in Canada, you have no idea how wrong you are.
Anyone think this thread would be appropriate?
I don't. Just trying to make a point.
OP, i like how you sarcastically created this group to make a point. I was thinking about doing something similar yesterday. Lets all start creating groups that are racist/prejudice and exclude others and when they notice it, say hey man, its just like having a cruisers only group lol
Well done!
Agreed, this is what i said in the Muslim rider thread. That rather than creating lables to divide us, we should strive to unite and get passed our differences. Highlightng our differences and focusing on them rather than what we have in common is very backwards thinking IMO and will only lead to more divisions on this site and further in the world.Something has been demonstrated here in these posts: At the most minor disagreement, we draw lines on the sand between "us" and "them".
We need something larger than us, something to unite us beyond our differences. I thought that 'something' was riding a two-wheeled vehicle. The great equalizer in this case is that we all ride. This website has been focusing on that for many years. What happened now?

Isn't multiculturilism(sp) supposed to celebrate all the differences? Just because some people can't do that correctly shouldn't spoil it for the rest of us. I know I feel particularly festive when everybody in my immediate surroundings looks and acts like nobody else. And the rich aroma makes the experience that much more joyous.
Oh absolutely. I love it when people from different background/cultures/life experiences/beliefs come together and yes it does make for an amazing learning experience.
Multiculturalism is about being together not excluding other like they are trying to do in a thread called Muslim Riders. Thats the opposite of coming together and enjoying the company of people from different beliefs/background. Thats dividing people.
So yes i agree with your point and saying this is the opposite of what you are saying.

The joy/benefit of multiculturalism is in the sharing and exposure to other cultures, not in the fractionalization and insulation from others.
No, it's not theoretical. We already have it to a great extend in Canada. most of us get a long, love each other regardless or faith/background and dont exclude others. Only if some groups stop trying to bring divide and instead try to bring people together, this very real and in practice notion will grow more.So it's more of a theoretical concept then. I have a dream.
